Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle' novel Chapter 388

Chapter 388: No Mercy Given

Selina, eager to share the drama, jogged out to the balcony. Spotting Logan reviewing documents, she waved the wireless phone in her hand and pressed the speaker button.

Logan raised an eyebrow.

The voice they heard just now belonged to one of Madam Nelson’s so-called friends.

As soon as she finished speaking, several more voices chimed in around her:

"Yeah, this place is incredible. Madam Nelson, hasn’t Riley been here before?"

"She must have. Otherwise, how would Riley even know about this place? I’ve heard Mr. Reid’s brought her here plenty of times in private."

"Manager, get us some rooms."

After her friends finished gushing, Madam Nelson finally gave a haughty nod. "You heard them, didn’t you? These are all my friends. Treat them well."

The manager sounded flustered. "Madam Nelson, I’m really sorry, but Pear Blossom Estate isn’t open to guests. Mr. Reid made it very clear—no exceptions. Please... we’ll have to ask you to leave."

Madam Nelson’s expression darkened instantly.

The freeloaders around her weren’t having it either. Their tone turned cocky and overbearing.

"What are you talking about? Madam Nelson isn’t an outsider! You’ll regret it if she gets mad!"

"Exactly. Even if Mr. Reid said it’s private, that obviously doesn’t apply to her. She already told us—if she wants to stay here, she will!"

Once everyone had said their piece, Madam Nelson tossed her hair and added with smug disdain, "Fine, arrange our rooms. I’ll put in a good word for you with Logan later."

Still, the manager stood firm. "I’m really sorry, but I can’t. Mr. Reid is staying here with his wife, and he explicitly said—"

"Oh, I get it," Madam Nelson cut in coldly. "It’s not that Mr. Reid said no—it’s Mrs. Reid, isn’t it?"

Right then, another voice cut in—sharp, full of contempt, completely overpowering the manager’s.

"What, Mr. Reid never taught her the meaning of basic courtesy? We’re not even asking much. And Madam Nelson is the mother of his best friend! What kind of message is that supposed to send?"

"Come on, Manager, talk some sense into your Mrs. Reid. No need to be so petty. This place is massive—it’s a waste not to let us stay."

"Yeah, we’re just thinking of Mr. Reid’s best interest!"

The manager’s face was flushed red, but Madam Nelson was Hunter’s mother. He couldn’t afford to offend her. "But—"

"No ’buts.’" Madam Nelson sneered. "Even if Mrs. Reid doesn’t approve, Logan won’t blame me. Now go arrange our rooms—"

A crisp female voice suddenly interrupted her through the phone, sharp as glass:

"If even Madam Nelson knows Pear Blossom Estate is a private residence, then what’s this? The Nelson Family fallen so far they can’t afford a hotel? You have to freeload off your junior’s home now—for food, lodging, and drinks?"

The call went dead silent.

Madam Nelson’s temper exploded.

She knew instantly—that was Selina’s voice.

"Miss Clark, what kind of nonsense is that?! Pear Blossom Estate is huge! Even if it’s Logan’s private property, how many rooms can he possibly use by himself? The rest are sitting empty! I’m an elder—what’s wrong with me staying here for a couple days? He wouldn’t say no!"

"Don’t assume everyone else is as petty as you! Our families have always been close. Honestly, even if I stayed here long-term, Logan wouldn’t say a word!"

Selina blinked and nudged Logan with her elbow, whispering, "Your ’elder’ really has no shame, huh?"

Logan smirked slightly.

Madam Nelson, emboldened by the silence on the line, puffed herself up again.

"Miss Clark, you’re Logan’s wife, so act like it. Don’t go giving people the impression you’re disrespectful to your elders. Anyway, I heard Pear Blossom Estate has a room with a pear tree right in the courtyard. I want that one. Selina, you get it ready for—"

Just then, a cool, deep male voice came through the phone—calm but commanding, carrying authority without needing to raise its tone:

"Does Madam Nelson not understand what ’private residence’ means?"

The entire hall went dead silent.
