Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle' novel Chapter 384

Chapter 384: Mistaking the Wrong Daughter

Joe knew Logan wouldn’t agree to that, but he still had to try.

Since there was no other choice, he settled for a lesser solution. "Since Selina is fine now and Angelica has already paid a price, how about Angelica apologizes, and we put this behind us?"

The "price" he referred to was Angelica’s shattered wrist—though Joe didn’t dare mention it outright.

Because if he did, how would they answer outsiders who questioned Logan’s actions?

Would he say Angelica framed Selina, leading to Selina’s kidnapping, and Logan retaliated by hurting Angelica?

That would completely destroy Angelica’s reputation.

After making his suggestion, Joe still felt aggrieved on Angelica’s behalf. To him, this wasn’t even a big deal. Why did she need to apologize?

Grandpa Reid also thought the idea reasonable and was about to agree when Logan curled his lips into a smile. Then his expression quickly turned icy.

"Apologize and sweep it under the rug?"

Logan spoke coldly, enunciating every word:

"If today, it was your daughter who’d been chased, slandered, and barely made it out alive, Chairman Morris—would an apology from the culprit be enough?"

"Of course not! Why let the culprit off so easily?" Joe answered without hesitation.

Logan was relentless. "If it’s unacceptable for your daughter, why should Selina endure such unfair treatment?"

The man gave a mocking smile. "Oh... is Chairman Morris employing double standards now?"

Joe felt his throat tighten, realizing he’d stepped right into Logan’s trap.

He didn’t understand what Logan was up to. Logan, as the head of Reid Group, should know better than anyone that there were no permanent enemies, only permanent interests.

The Reid and Morris families had exchanged shares and were closely aligned. Sacrificing one individual to protect the greater interest was inevitable.

Did Logan really not understand this? Or perhaps he did, but was willing to disregard both families’ reputations and interests solely for Selina? That was completely unacceptable!

Joe confronted Logan without hesitation.

After hearing Joe’s viewpoint, Logan simply smiled meaningfully.

His smile didn’t look angry—instead, it appeared... satisfied?

"Chairman Morris, are you suggesting we shield the culprit and sacrifice Selina just to protect our two families’ interests?"

Joe maintained a stern face. If there hadn’t been cameras present, he would have said it more bluntly—Selina was already expendable. Extracting every bit of benefit from her was clearly the smartest move.

"In any case, Angelica is my daughter. I absolutely won’t let you take her away. I’m sorry for everything Miss Clark experienced," Joe said, adding a threat. "But Miss Clark alone trying to challenge the Morris Family is like an ant trying to shake a tree."

Selina blinked and was about to speak when Logan asked again, "But what if Selina really can’t swallow this insult?"

Joe’s patience wore thin.

In the past, given his personality, he would have handled such matters violently. Not that the Morris Family had faced this exact situation before.

But Angelica was his daughter—his and Victoria’s daughter. Victoria was his world, so why shouldn’t he adjust his usual stance for Angelica?

Anyone who stood in his daughter’s way deserved to be removed. Selina was still alive... shouldn’t she be grateful? How dare she claim she "couldn’t swallow this insult"?

"Logan, I’m only standing here wasting my breath because of you and the Reid Family," Joe said, his brows knitted. "If the Morris Family insists on protecting Angelica, there’s nothing you can do about it."

"Seems there’s no reasoning with you," Logan said indifferently, nodding slightly. "Then do whatever you please, Chairman Morris."
