Persephone's expression changed. She refrained from pressing for details, confident that Seamus would handle everything. What puzzled her was the supposed loyalty of the individuals meticulously chosen by the Hamertons and Thompsons.
Yet, there was a traitor among them, targeting her life!
Seamus said, gripping her arm, "Sephy, don't worry. I'll always protect you."
"Sorry, overheard your conversation." Morpheus' brow furrowed, his gaze heavy on Seamus. "Who do you mean by 'a mole'?"
"This is our business." Seamus avoided disclosing too much. "Mr. Orton, it's better not to ask. But... Sephy might need to trouble you for a while longer."
"Continue staying with me?"
"Yes." Seamus held his gaze.
At this point, he no longer harbored the initial distrust toward Morpheus. He sensed Morpheus genuinely cared for Persephone, providing reassurance.
For now, he couldn't stay by Persephone's side. With the traitor identified, he had to handle it. This person had no vendetta against the Hamertons—everything was orchestrated by someone else. He had to expose the mastermind behind it.
Seamus looked at Morpheus again and said, "Apologies for the intrusion."
"Not an intrusion." After a long silence, Morpheus' tone turned cold. "But are you still not planning to tell me the truth?"
"What?"
Persephone smiled bitterly. They both concealed things from each other. She never planned to be completely honest with him from the start, and he never intended to be entirely transparent with her.
In a daze, she remembered her childhood—the lack of secrets between her and Greta. They knew everything about each other.
She stared at Morpheus, and he stared back. They scrutinized each other so intensely as if trying to dig out secrets from the other's eyes.
Seamus coughed and tugged Persephone's hand. Just then, there was a knock at the door, and Wynn entered with breakfast and a few cans of beer.
He first looked surprised when he saw Seamus, and then his eyes lit up as if dawn had broken.
"Why... are you all standing around?" He slowly placed the items on the table, noticing Persephone's pale face.
