Persephone was taken aback, looking at the woman with doubt.
Meanwhile, Wynn appeared awkward, tilting his body as if dodging her.
"What's wrong?" Persephone asked.
"She's Shirley," he said softly. "She's with Kourtney."
Persephone thought fast, connecting that with his past, and roughly guessed the grudge between them.
There were many nightclubs on the street, and Kourtney was a powerful madam. She certainly had many "generals" under her wing. Shirley seemed to be one of them.
Meanwhile, a "skirmisher" like Wynn had no support. They must have boycotted him. Given his special identity as a man, they likely looked down on him and bullied him. However, they dared not go over the line. After all, he had Morpheus behind him.
The most they would do was what she was doing now—teasing and humiliating him before leaving him alone.
He grabbed Persephone and gestured toward the alley. "Sephy, let's walk there."
"Hey, don't go just yet." Shirley crossed the line, blocking them and rudely inspecting Persephone. "So, this is Morpheus' girl? Ha! How can she take him when she's so petite?"
She laughed out loud. "Oh, wait! He only looks strong on the outside. He can't last in bed. Hahaha…"
"Don't push it, Shirley!" Wynn couldn't take it anymore. "What business do you have with them?"
Shirley was stunned, and her facial expression changed. She did not expect that Persephone did not take her mockery to heart. That felt horrible.
"I'm sorry." Persephone smiled courteously. "I only heard Wynn talking. I was confused, wondering why he was talking to himself."
"What are you talking about? Do you not understand human language?"
"Oh, so that was human language?" Persephone looked innocent yet mischievous, making Shirley pale from rage. "Miss, are you well-versed in many languages? Do you also know… gibberish?"
"What are you saying?"
"I'm just saying, talk like a regular person. Stop speaking gibberish, understand?"
