Love at the Wrong Table (Emmanuel Lowe and Mackenzie) novel Chapter 1995

Chapter 1995

Denis and Jake both wore somber expressións, their brows furrowed with

unease. They had no true grasp of Emmanuel’s strength or the intricate web

of strategies supporting him. Their decision to follow was built entirely on

trust, leaving them feeling uncertain and vulnerable.

“Ha! Everyone!” Xander’s voice rang out, full of mockery as he addressed the

crowd. “Due to the slander against Ms. Yuna and the Tanner family, we, as the

hosts, must step in to defend her honor and take care of these scoundrels. I

urge you all to disperse quickly, unless you wish to become collateral

damage–then I can’t be held responsible for what happens.”

As Xander finished speaking, the onlookers scattered, not wanting to get

caught in the impending chaos. Eldoria’s grand ballroom swiftly cleared,

leaving an open space where more than a dozen fighters now encircled

Emmanuel and Sage like wolves closing in on their prey.

With a smirk twisting his lips, Gregory stepped forward. “Emmanuel, I’ll admit, you’re strong. But walking in here today means you’ve sealed your own fate.

There’s no way out for you now.”

His voice dripped with venom, his eyes flashing with lingering bitterness from

their last encounter. Emmanuel had crippled him during that fight, leaving

him with an injury that made every step painful, but that hardly mattered

anymore. Back at the Quill Residence, Gregory had rallied a band of masters

and set an elaborate trap, confident that Emmanuel wouldn’t slip through his

fingers again. This time, he’d make sure there was no escape.

“You lost to me before, yet you still dare to talk big?” Emmanuel’s calm words

sliced through Gregory’s bravado, causing his face to flush with humiliation.

Whispers rippled through the crowd as those present now remembered

Gregory’s loss in Yeringham–a defeat many hadn’t been aware of until now.

The fact that he made no attempt to deny it only cemented the truth. His

once–grand reputation as a Zovince master crumbled before their eyes.

“D*mn it!” Gregory snarled, his voice trembling with anger. “Last time, I

underestimated you and fell for your tricks. But today, I swear, I will kill you!”

Emmanuel let out a low, disdainful laugh, “Oh, really? Are you hoping to regain

your honor with a one–on–one match? I’d be more than willing to oblige.”

His calm, cutting words sent Gregory stumbling backward, fear flashing in his

eyes. Even at his best, Gregory had never been a match for Emmanuel. How

could he possibly stand a chance now? Yet, as he glanced around at the

onlookers‘ snooring faces, his embarrassment fanned the flames of his

anger.

With a twisted grin, he sneered. “Ha! One–on–one or a group assault, it’s your

choice. Either way, if we go one–on–one, you’ll face all of us. If we attack

together, we’ll crush you just the same.”

Laughter erupted from the crowd, echoing through the grand hall.

Sonia and Raina scowled at Gregory’s shameless display. How could a

Grandmaster stoop to such disgraceful tactics? Meanwhile, Shane seemed

utterly indifferent, yawning lazily, clearly unbothered by his master’s situation.

Emmanuel’s chuckle, cold and amused, sent a chill through Gregory’s veins.

“If you don’t care for martial ethics, then I see no reason to abide by them

either,” Emmanuel said, his words dripping with casual menace,

Suddenly, with a clap of his hands, the sound of shattering glass filled the

ballroom as windows burst apart. In an instant, twenty to thirty agile martial

artists materialized around Emmanuel, their movements so swift that the

average onlookers could barely comprehend what had happened.

The higher–level fighters in the crowd felt their hearts grow cold as they took

in the scene before them. Gregory gasped in disbelief, his voice trembling,

“Emmanuel! Who are you really? When did you gather so many S–level

martial artists?”

Shock rippled through the onlookers as they stared in disbelief. S–class

martial artists were rare, and yet here Emmanuel stood, flanked by a small

army of them. It shattered every assumption they had made.

Emmanuel chuckled, amusement glinting in his eyes. “Am I obligated to

answer you?” he asked with a smirk, his tone as light as ever.

Without another word, Sage appeared at his side, bringing over a chair for

the chaos unfolding around him was of little consequence.

Gregory, still stunned, quickly snapped back to the present. “Everyone, attack

now! Take out his men first, then we’ll surround and crush Emmanuel!” he

shouted in desperation, his voice tinged with panic.

The scene exploded into chaos as fighters clashed.

From the sidelines, the main members of the Quill family watched with

measured calm. Though they didn’t fully understand how Emmanuel had

managed to gather such formidable fighters, they still believed that no

matter how skilled, a small group couldn’t stand against the might of Eldoria.

In their eyes, these warriors were mere ants facing a storm–no more

capable of stopping their inevitable downfall than a mantis attempting to

halt a speeding carriage.

“Please spare me! I’m merely doing my duty for the Quill family. We have no

enmity! I’ll leave the Quill family and pledge my loyalty to you; just spare my

life!”

Before Emmanuel could give an order, Quintus‘ fist connected with Gregory,

sending him crashing to the ground.

The warriors of the Wolf Warrior Unit looked on in silent disbelief.

Shane couldn’t help but chuckle, “He’s even more shameless than I am.”

But upon catching a glance from Sonia, he quickly cleared his throat. “What I

meant was, I have my pride. He lacks it.”

Sonia had no time for banter, her gaze filled with concern as she surveyed

the chaos around them.

Although the Quill family’s elite fighters had been defeated, the venue still

held a strong advantage in numbers for both the family and the figures from

Eldoria.

“Those of the Quill family, return my sister to me unharmed, and I may

consider granting you a chance at survival.”

Emmanuel stood up, addressing the Quill family members seated below with

an icy demeanor. “Otherwise, today shall bring about your total ruin.”

His words struck terror into the hearts of many present. Emmanuel’s intense

aura was something few could withstand.

“Hahaha…”

Yet, Xander continued to laugh heartily, throwing his head back with reckless

abandon. “Your sister is here at the behest of Mr. Lannister. If you wish to

negotiate her release, you should consult Mr. Lannister.”

Suddenly, like a spark igniting a fire, the crowd’s attention shifted to Gwain.

Initially, Gwain had hoped to remain an observer, confident that Emmanuel

would meet his end today. He never imagined he would be compelled to join

the fray.

However, it was evident that Xander had positioned him at the forefront, clearly intending for him to confront Emmanuel. After all, he was known as
