The sect had a custom of presenting gifts such as spiritual treasures and pills to every disciple or outer sect elder who reached the level of paragon.
The reasons behind that practice were twofold: it served firstly as a manifestation of the sect's acknowledgment and affirmation of the disciples, and secondly because paragons require higher-grade spiritual treasures. Lower-grade ones were hardly effective.
In the past, the matters of preparing such gifts to highlight the newly-ascended paragon's achievements were typically handled by the sect's elders. It was a different matter when the sect leader personally presented the gift. While that pill might not have been top-notch, its bestowal underscored Severin's importance in Oskar's eyes.
Severin found himself a bit perplexed by Myles's remarks. Fortunately, those individuals were unaware that his daughter, Selene, was Oskar's apprentice, or else they would have been even more effusive with their compliments. Severin downplayed the situation and said, "Well, it's just a stroke of good luck. I don't expect the sect leader to remember a relative nobody like me."
The elders and peak masters were speechless when he ate up all their compliments. After some further praise, the elders and several peak masters from the first few peaks proceeded to leave.
He soon came to realize that Daniella and others were planning to support him. The major core disciples—aside form Celeste and Raymond who had yet to reach the level of paragon—received covert support from many elders as well. The position of Junior Sect Leader or Midland's quota was a rare opportunity. If Severin managed to secure the former position with their backing, then their status would rise accordingly. Conversely, if Severin secured a place in Midland and reached the Grandiuno Sacred Land, he might have the chance to become a supreme paragon powerhouse and perhaps even rise to grander heights!
In their view, Severin's talent and ability was worth a gamble. Offering support that early was a calculated risk of which there would be minimal loss should it end in failure. However, there were plenty of rewards to be reaped in the future on the off chance of success!
