Xiang Yu’s eyes snapped open in the spirit vein, his body trembling as he gasped for air. Even though it was just an illusion, it still felt so real. For several long moments, he just sat there, not uttering a word, his mind still processing what had just happened.
That final attack—even with his precognition ability showing him three seconds into the future, he hadn’t seen it coming at all. The way everything around him had simply frozen in place, as if time itself had stopped moving, it was really unsettling.
He wondered if what he’d witnessed was actually a Void Traversing realm ability.
Letting out a long, heavy sigh, Xiang Yu forced his racing heart to calm down. It seemed that despite all his improvements, he still couldn’t truly defeat her. The realization stung his pride a little, but he quickly pushed those feelings aside. For him, winning or losing didn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things. Well, he definitely preferred being stronger so he wouldn’t feel constantly on edge around her, but at the same time, he was genuinely glad she had managed to surprise him once again.
Although he couldn’t be certain whether her power had actually reached the Void Traversing realm or not, this meant she was at least somewhat capable of defending them if a true Void realm cultivator ever attacked their sect. That knowledge brought him a little comfort.
Checking his system’s internal clock, Xiang Yu realized with surprise that time had really flown by while his body was undergoing all those insane transformations. It was almost dawn already. With only about three hours remaining until sunrise, he thought to himself that he needed to start grinding experience points.
He decided not to bother with farming or alchemy this morning since it was already so late. Instead, he would take full advantage of his dramatically increased enlightenment to rapidly boost his combat technique experience.
The Divine-level enlightenment was already showing its incredible effects—he constantly felt insights flowing into his mind effortlessly, even when he wasn’t actively trying to understand, his understanding of martial techniques deepened with every passing moment.
For his battle simulations, he selected the limit break Nascent Soul version of Li Yao as his opponent. They were fairly equally matched at that level, which provided the perfect challenge for intensive training. The fights were difficult enough to push his limits without being completely overwhelming.
Over the next few hours leading up to dawn, he ran countless simulations, practicing and pushing his techniques to their limits. After every simulation ended, he would pause for some time to internalize and digest everything he had learned, allowing him to grasp the fundamental concepts despite the muscle memory reset.
By dawn, he had made remarkable progress. He had almost perfected all of his elemental palm techniques—if he’d had just a bit more time, he was confident he could have achieved complete mastery. He had deliberately avoided practicing his other Sacred-grade techniques during this session since they were significantly more complex and would have consumed too much of his time.
More importantly, he already had a specific idea brewing in the back of his mind for what he planned to do with the elemental techniques once they reached perfect mastery. It was something he thought might even solve his current greatest challenge...
