Bonnie pursed her lower lip and said, "we won't be seeing each other anymore!"
"You get some rest. I'm going home."
Without pausing, Bonnie turned around and walked out the door.
"Bonnie, stop!"
Bonnie walked faster as she left Myles' room.
Myles got out of bed in a rush and he pulled on the cut in his lower back. Myles's face turned pale from the pain.
The noise of bumping into something alerted the nurse who was on duty.
"Mr. Hughes!" The nurse rang the bell hastily.
Myles broke free from the nurse's support and tried to chase Bonnie, but he could not get up.
Myles hated himself so much. Why did he get hurt right now?
He could not even get up and ask Bonnie to stay.
Myles was finally held to the bed by nurses and doctors.
When Haider and Evan arrived, Myles was still in the operating room.
The wound had pulled so hard it almost burst open.
He was bleeding a lot and his situation was very dangerous.
Haider, looking worried, stood at the door of the operating room. After checking with the nurse, he called Bonnie.
But when the call came through, it was Yanis who answered the phone.
"Haider?"
Haider recognized Yanis's voice and paused for a few seconds. "Where's Bonnie?"
"She went over to see Myles and left her phone with me."
Haider heard her words, paused for a few seconds, then said, "ask her to call me when she gets back."
"Ok... Haider, Bonnie's here."
Haider mused. "Pass her the phone, please."
Yanis looked over to Bonnie as she came in. "Bonnie, Haider's calling you..."
Noticing the look on Bonnie's face, Yanis paused and asked, "do you want to answer it?"
Bonnie reached for the phone and said, "Haider."
"Did you fight with Myles?"
Bonnie didn't deny it. "It wasn't a fight. I just talked to him about something."
"What was it? He tore up his woods."
Bonnie got so worried when she heard Haider's words. "And he's..."
She almost asked naturally about his situation, but she managed to hold those words back. "It has nothing to do with me. I didn't rip him up."
"Bonnie, if Myles bullies you. I will help you kick his ass. But now you..."
"Haider."
Bonnie interrupted Haider, "I have nothing to do with him, and it's none of my business what happens to him."
At this point, Bonnie paused. "He's no longer my concern. If you don't have other things to say, I'm going to hang up."
Bonnie then hung up the phone.
Bonnie was in tears when she hung up.
Yanis tried to say something to comfort her, but she couldn't. "Bonnie, come here."
Bonnie walked over to Yanis and hugged her.
She cried, but there was no sound. It was just a soft breath, and her shoulders kept shaking.
Yanis didn't say another word as she patted Bonnie on the back.
It took a long while for Bonnie to stop crying.
Even so, Yanis never thought Bonnie would hurt Myles in this way.
This had been a shock to Yanis, who had witnessed their relationship over the years.
"Bonnie, have you thought it through yet?"
Bonnie nodded. "Yes."
"He might love someone else the same way he used to love you. Are you ok with that?"
"Yes, I am."
"He will love someone else in the future. Are you really willing to give him to other people?"
Bonnie stopped talking.
After a long time, she spoke in a low voice. "But Yanis, one day he's going to find out. He's going to hear about it from someone, or... I don't dare to think about it, so I want to take the initiative. I don't want to be the one left behind."
"What about Myles? You're just going to watch him feel sad?"
"He deserves it. He spoils me, he controls me, he likes me, he... loves me so much!"
Yanis never saw Bonnie cry.
It was like Bonnie never had tears.
But now that she was in tears, Yanis felt a little overwhelmed.
Just as Yanis was about to say more, the phone rang again.
Haider was calling again.
Bonnie didn't move, and Yanis asked, "Haider, do you want to answer it?"
Bonnie shook her head. "No!"
"What if it's an emergency?"
Myles was the first thing on Bonnie's mind, so she answered the phone. "Haider."
