His Ex-Wife Is A Billionaire (Evadne and Thaddeus) novel Chapter 227

The appearance of the emerald and diamond necklace instantly ignited the room!

Anyone with eyes could tell, from the purity of the diamonds to the craftsmanship of the cut, it was top tier. Its value could reach several million dollars!

To bring such a treasured piece of jewelry to a charity auction, the Chambers Group was indeed showing off their extravagance!

At that moment, a dazzling spotlight shone on Avery's upright and handsome figure.

Curious gazes followed, and upon seeing the man's handsome face, they couldn't help but admire!

Yet Avery's eyes, filled with hidden charm, were brazenly fixed on Evadne's direction, as if the only person he could see in his field of vision was her.

Only her.

"This man is so handsome! His face is flawless, just like a perfect marble statue. Who is he?"

"He must be the young master of the Chambers Group, right? How else could he afford such an expensive piece of jewelry?"

"The young master of the Chambers Group? I've never seen him before!"

"Does he have a thing with Ms. Evadne?"

"So what if they're an item? Ms. Evadne is a beauty in her own right, a match for this young man. They're like a perfect lid for a perfect pot!"

The murmurs and whispers buzzed like mosquitoes in Thaddeus' ear.

A perfect lid for a perfect pot. What kind of ridiculous analogy was that?

Avery's pale beardless face and those eyes could only remind him of the treacherous characters from history!

"The emerald and diamond necklace, starting at two hundred thousand dollars, let the bidding begin!"

As soon as the auctioneer's words fell, guests began to raise their paddles.

"Three hundred thousand dollars!"

"Four hundred thousand dollars!"

"Four and a half hundred thousand dollars!"

"Five hundred thousand dollars!"

The atmosphere was heated, the competition fierce!

Initially, Evadne had been feeling a bit queasy.

But seeing the first item being bid up to five hundred thousand dollars in a blink, she instantly felt better. Her back didn't ache anymore, her stomach didn't feel sick anymore!

Money was the best medicine, after all.

Elspeth and her daughter Glynnis, on the other hand, wore heavy expressions of resentment, as if they were in hell.

They had come to watch Evadne make a fool of herself, but they didn't expect the auction to be so successful right from the start. Their previous attempts to smear Evadne now seemed like a tickle, how uninteresting!

"Mom! Avery is here on behalf of the Chambers Group to support that bitch, and he even donated such a precious piece of jewelry. He's really burning money for her!" Glynnis, watching Evadne chatting with Iris, spoke with resentment.

Elspeth sneered, "Are you jealous?"

"How can I not be jealous?"

Glynnis fiddled with her dress, looking very upset, "From childhood to now, apart from my dad, no man has ever been so attentive and spoiled me. Not only does Evadne's brothers pamper her, but even Mr. Jareth and this Avery have become her knights in shining armor. Even Thaddeus isn't as cold to her as he used to be. I don't understand what's so great about her that all the men keep circling around her. With her always suppressing me, I wake up every morning feeling grey!"

She dreamed of living Evadne's life, with suitors lining up outside, brothers who would do anything for her at home.

But what did she have?

All she had was a stupid unlucky little sister!

"Stop sulking. You're my daughter, Elspeth's daughter. Why do you always belittle yourself? You're becoming a real wet blanket!" Elspeth, irritated, gave her daughter a pinch on the thigh.

The pain made Glynnis shriek, attracting the attention of those around them.

"Jareth is my future son-in-law. Your marriage to him is a done deal. No one can ruin my plan unless they're tired of living!"

Elspeth glared at Evadne, sneering quietly, "As for this Mr. Avery, you don't need to worry about him. It would be best if Evadne messes around with that good-for-nothing, cutting off Thaddeus' thoughts about her and not messing up our plans. It's a win-win situation!"

"But Mom, he's the legitimate young master of the Chambers family. His mother is Mr. Jeff's wife. If Evadne really gets together with him, won't that give her more power?" Glynnis asked, looking confused.

"More power? I think it's more like digging her own grave."

Elspeth crossed her arms, "Avery is the son Mr. Jeff looks down upon the most, and his mother isn't well-liked either. His mother and him have been neglected abroad for years. Despite his title as the young master of the Chambers family, he's actually penniless. He neither owns shares in the Chambers Group nor holds any position in the corporation. It would be great if such a useless second-generation rich kid gets together with Evadne."

She smirked, her mind filled with cunning plots, "I really hope they can make it official, so that Evadne will be stuck with this trouble for life."

At this point, the emerald necklace had been bid up to six million.

Everyone stopped bidding.

Evadne was fuming, wishing she could throw this despicable man out of the room!

Then, another piece of jewelry that didn't worth much was bought by Thaddeus, and whispers began to circulate.

"Is that piece really worth four hundred thousand dollars? Does Mr. Thaddeus lack a discerning eye?"

"He's handsome and rich. If he's a bit foolish, let it be. Nobody's perfect!"

"Bullshit! Haven't you noticed? Mr. Thaddeus buys all the worthless pieces. Even if he were blindly bidding, he couldn't possibly avoid all the valuable ones. It's clear he's doing this on purpose!" One keen observer pointed out.

Everyone gasped, "Indeed! So, you're saying?"

"Mr. Thaddeus is buying these cheap pieces to help Ms. Evadne and add value to her auction. He is throwing money for his love!"

Edith watched with wide eyes as Thaddeus, the man she had been pining for, was bending over backward to please Evadne. She was so angry her eyes were bloodshot!

What she had been yearning for, Thaddeus presented it to Evadne on a silver platter, only to be ignored. The stark contrast made her feel utterly humiliated.

Everyone nodded in agreement.

Thaddeus faintly heard the gossip and his thin lips curled into a smirk.

It seemed there were still some people who understood his actions.

Unfortunately, Evadne hadn't so much as glanced back at him from the beginning.

The man's smirk faded.

"Boring," Avery snorted, his disdain for Thaddeus' actions clear.

Throwing money around, did he think Evadne was one of those shallow gold diggers?

"Up next, allow me to introduce our next item!"

The auctioneer's voice rang out clear and loud, as he dramatically unveiled the piece under a red cloth.

What appeared was an exquisitely cut, teardrop-shaped white diamond necklace, with hundreds of small blue diamonds surrounding it. It was breathtakingly beautiful!

"This piece was generously donated by Miss Ada, and was personally designed by the world-class jeweler, Miss Alea! We thank Miss Ada for her generous donation!"

The moment the necklace appeared on stage, Glynnis' face turned ashen. She sprung to her feet in shock!

At the same time, Edith's expression gradually froze, her fingers intertwined tightly, turning red!
