Right now, Hank felt incredibly thankful that he'd secretly followed Shannon and Zane.
He hadn't expected Simeon to suggest Zane enter Zenyoism. Regardless of what Zane himself was thinking, the fact that Alex immediately chimed in and persuaded Zane to join the monastery pissed Hank off.
It was one thing for Alex to be muddle-headed and make a mess of his life, but now, he was trying to drag Zane into it too. What kind of father would convince their son to become a monk?
Hank's gaze was fierce and defensive as he shielded Zane like something was trying to hurt him.
Alex was instantly enraged. "What kind of a look is that?"
Instead of answering, Hank stubbornly repeated, "Zane's not becoming a monk. If you want to do that, go ahead, but don't drag him in."
Hearing his only close son show no reaction to his monk stunt, Alex got even angrier. He pointed at Hank and furiously snapped, "What nonsense is that! I'm his dad! Do you think I'd harm him? This is for his sake!"
"For his sake? You've never done anything in his favor!"
The moment Hank shouted these words, the entire monastery seemed to fall silent. Even the birds in the distant treetops stilled.
Alex stared at Hank in disbelief. W-Was Hank accusing him, the father?
He admitted that he might not have paid much attention to Zane, but he hadn't hurt the latter either. Was that how Hank really saw him?
Now, Alex was genuinely heartbroken. He might not have been a good father compared to Adam and Adrain, but he'd never thought of himself as a bad one either.
"Y-You…" Alex stammered and could barely find the right words.
Standing aside, Shannon and Simeon remained silent.
Being fiercely protected behind Hank, Zane had stood frozen after hearing that angry roar and witnessing his rage. Then, he slowly reached out to gently tug on Hank's hand.
