The man collapsed onto the water's surface and let out an agonized wail. "My hands! My hands are gone!"

Suddenly, his lips curled into a twisted grin. "Just kidding."

As he spoke, three long tentacles emerged from the water behind Shannon and struck her unguarded back without hesitation.
