Shannon looked at Cornelius, who was standing beside Bianca and then at the somewhat familiar-looking party seeking help. She remained silent for a moment.
The party in need was a cat demon mommy. She stared at Shannon for a long time, sniffed the air around her, and suddenly reacted.
Pointing at Shannon, she exclaimed, "It's you! I don't want you handling my case! Why do you always take my requests? Do you have ulterior motives against me?"
The cat demon mommy was the first case Shannon had handled after joining the Demon Control Agency. Coincidentally, she was the source of the first complaint Shannon had ever received.
The reason was that Shannon was human.
…
What a coincidence.
"Did your child run away from home again?" Shannon remembered that the last time the kitten had left home, he'd wanted to become an influencer.
He had sneaked into the home of a pet influencer and made himself comfortable. Shannon had been forced to track him down and return him to the cat demon mommy.
"That's none of your business!" The cat demon mommy bristled with anger. Humans were no good, after all.
Though unaware of the full story, Bianca patiently explained, "You must be mistaken. She's not human; she's half-demon."
As she spoke, she nudged Shannon closer to the cat demon mommy. "Why don't you take another sniff?"
The cat demon mommy finally picked up a faint trace of supernatural strength. Her expression softened a little, though she muttered, "So, you really are a half-demon. Last time you lied and said you were human…"
Shannon wasn't sure how to react. She had been fully human the last time they met.
"Let's talk about your child instead."
And yet, Shannon seemed excited about getting them and insisted on coming along.
Shannon listened to her talking about finding lost young demons and thought about her first mission. That was when she realized Reuben had used her as an unofficial errand-runner.
But she didn't bother getting upset over it. Though she doubted the situation was as dire as the cat demon mommy feared, she took the matter seriously and began tracking the two younglings.
Bianca and Cornelius watched as Shannon entered the younglings' supernatural energy into MysticApp. After a few quick operations, two location markers popped up on her phone.
Cornelius' eyes widened in slight surprise, while Bianca was utterly shocked. "Wait, MysticApp can do this?"
She had used MysticApp as a marketplace and a forum for gossip and chatting.
Being a legitimate employee of Mystic, Shannon replied, "Mystic developed a variety of functions. If used wisely, it can sometimes replace certain spells."
