Just as Shannon was feeling puzzled, Hank and Scott stood up at the same time.

Hank looked as if he urgently wanted to speak, but Scott was quicker. "Shannon, it's good that you're back! Eddie came looking for me; he said he might have a way to help Zane with his lifespan!"

As Scott blurted out his words, Shannon's eyes turned to Eddie. That was when she noticed a seemingly different layer on him.

Just as she was processing the thought, Scott leaned in close to whisper in her ear, "Shannon, check if he's bluffing again. If he's lying, we can't let him mess around. Grandpa and the others are really worried."

Thalia simply smiled. It'd happened when she'd handed him water.

With that, Eddie half-confusedly agreed.

"But given your unique circumstances, I can help submit an application to convert this merit into lifespan and use it in this lifetime, if you'd like that."
