Lexie stared dazedly at the men before her—or rather, souls—and felt a lump in her throat. She said, with struggle, "Watch out, guys… His wind blade can sever all existence… within his black smoke…"
That was how Heston was sliced into pieces. Otherwise, with his strong body, he would never have been destroyed so easily.
The agent nodded at her while the other huffed, commenting, "Sever all existence? I'd like to see if it can sever my soul."
The former glanced at his colleague and softly warned, "Stay on your toes."
The two souls soon formed an array and trapped the elder.
Lexie didn't intervene. Instead, she used her arms to nudge toward Heston.
He was still alive, and she needed to piece his body back together. Her body was scratched with several wounds from the rough, coarse sand, but she didn't care in the slightest.
At that moment, something seemed to fly above her head before it descended. It was Elliot's true form, which Kai had dropped.
A chubby hedgehog suddenly fell from the sky, landing on the ruins near Lexie and instantly transforming into a human form with a loud bang.
Elliot plummeted from the sky, his slightly plump body trembling instinctively. As soon as he noticed Lexie and Heston's dire state, he quickly forgot about his shivering and hurried toward her.
He was about to cast a spell to heal her injuries when Lexie stopped him before pointing at Heston's body. "Save him… first."
Of course, Elliot saw Heston's state, but he said, "Heston is the Unmelting Bone. I can't treat him. I can, however, treat you. Only when you recover can he stay alive."
Nevertheless, he carried Lexie to Heston's side, set up a protective barrier, and began the treatment.
Mike looked at the sparse figures standing in the black smoke around the array, feeling an almost zombie-like sense of impending doom. Equally tense were the Ghost King's two ghost lackeys hiding behind him.
"Those outside have gone to sleep yet able to move! They're more terrifying than us!"
"That black smoke looks eerie as heck. Not even a ghost like me dares to touch it!"
"Exactly!"
The ghost lackeys mumbled, rendering the already nerve-racking Mike even more anxious. "If you guys have nothing to do, why don't you infiltrate the Gibsons' dreams, drive the Dreambeast away, and stop distracting me?"
The ghost lackeys responded.
