At that moment, Tortoise the System, still atop Maya's head, suddenly raised its body. The black smoke rose, forming a dark tortoise tail.
With a swift spin, it lashed straight toward Maya's face. "Shut up! Take my tail!"
In sync with its movement, Benji Gold, which heard Maya insulting Shannon, landed a simultaneous strike on Maya's face, causing both sides of her face to suffer.
However, the two little ones weren't quite satisfied, especially the system. "I don't need a tiny paper figure to chime in when I'm right here! Back down!"
Benji Gold couldn't speak, so it just stood with its hands on its hips, stomping its feet and trying to push the system aside. Benji Gold was Shannon's trusted little fighter, not the tortoise!
"You back down, tortoise!"
The two small creatures seemed to get into an odd rivalry and, for no reason at all, started fighting.
Normally, their scuffle wouldn't have mattered much, but somehow, as one swung its tail and the other kicked with its legs, neither of them managed to hit each other directly. Instead, each blow landed squarely on Maya’s head in rapid succession.
Maya was about to explode after suffering the unnecessary strikes. "S-Stop… it!"
Adeela couldn't help but be distracted by the sudden interruption. In that fleeting moment, Shannon seized the opportunity, launching three talismans infused with supernatural power toward her.
A boom sounded.
The supernatural power of the serpent demon bone within Shannon's body seemed to find a breakthrough, and with a flash, a thunder talisman materialized, releasing nine bolts of lightning from all directions, charging toward Adeela.
Adeela's pupils trembled as she immediately pulled out a magical item. Shannon recognized it instantly; it was the same one Alaric had used to fend off a thunder talisman.
The black smoke began to channel the item, but before Adeela could form a protective barrier, a tortoise-shaped shadow shot through the smoke like an arrow, piercing through her barrier.
She turned around and saw Thalia, who flashed her a faint smile before coldly commanding, "By the decree of pardon, ignite and freeze all!"
With a sharp crack, frost quickly spread across Adeela's body, encasing her completely and leaving only her slightly terrified eyes visible.
Thalia then spoke, turning to Shannon, and said, "Don't listen to her. The Rift isn't fully formed yet. Taking control of the entire city's fortune through The Rift isn't that simple."
As she spoke, she approached Shannon with a few other figures gradually appearing behind her. The misty rain continued to fall in a steady drizzle, the world around her shrouded in a dull, gray haze.
Yet, the figures walking toward her stood in stark contrast, their colors vibrant and vivid.
Kai, Rhodes, Lexie, Heston, Mike, and Benjamin had come into her sight…
