The Skelldom didn't appear.
With Zidane's soft call, the empty space in the room seemed to respond, twisting in on itself. It was like the space was slowly warping under intense heat, and soon after, two doors began to materialize from the distortion.
Shannon turned her head and subsequently heard creaks from the doors before they swung open. The next second, two figures suddenly tumbled out of the doors, caught off guard.
They were none other than Eddie and… Maya.
Shannon couldn't help but feel a bit surprised.
Originally, she had planned to spend some MysticApp points to ask the mysterious boss behind the scenes to help her pinpoint a location. But to her surprise, Zidane not only didn't charge her but also sent the people directly to her.
This was by far the most straightforward he had ever been since she had known him. And as for the Skelldom… Well, it was surprisingly considerate.
In the meantime, the two who had been "teleported" here through a door that appeared beneath their feet were stunned and confused. Once Maya realized Shannon was standing before her, her expression turned grim.
"Will you get out of my face for once?" she cursed silently.
Shannon, however, flashed her a smile. She bound Maya once again with the mystic chain and fixed her with an immobilization talisman, pinning her in place. Then, she placed Tortoise the System onto Maya's head.
"If she moves again, you can absorb it all you want."
She wanted to give Maya one last shred of dignity, but it seemed redundant.
At that, the system proudly replied, "See? You should've done that earlier."
As it spoke, four claws began to scratch through Maya's somewhat dry hair, searching for a suitable spot to settle down. Eventually, it lay down, resting atop her.
Freya's eyebrows and eyes curved slightly as if to say, "Well, this could be considered a blessing in disguise."
However, her expression instantly sobered, revealing a hint of seriousness.
"There's a reason for the possession. Eddie had accidentally opened a ghost gate. Although he had a shielding talisman and my protection in preventing his soul from being absorbed into the gate, he's… lost one of his soul channels."
What Freya referred to as a "soul channel" was actually one of the Seven Spirits. In the belief of "Three Souls, Seven Spirits", none could be missing. If even one was lost and the person might have survived, they would suffer significant damage—whether to their mind or their body.
Eddie was someone she had watched grow up. There was no way she could bear to let him end up like this. Not to mention, he had already completely let his guard down and connected with her.
So, she forcefully entered his body, intending to help him recover the lost soul channel and protect the remaining ones.
But her spiritual energy was too weak. She couldn't even pass through the ghost gate and instead ended up lost within this ghost building.
