Though Shannon had joined the show for Bella, she was genuinely intrigued by this rare and unusual phenomenon.
The cast members, along with millions of people in the livestream audience, were instantly hyped up at the mention of the building possibly being enlightened.
A barrage of comments hit the livestream chat as they were all curious about what could actually be happening.
As loyal fans of the show, they were numb to all sorts of supernatural encounters and looked forward to something new like the enlightenment of buildings.
"Can buildings be enlightened?" Eddie asked and was completely dumbfounded.
Even Cale was hearing this theory for the first time, but that didn't stop him from acting superior in front of Eddie. "Why not? All things have spirits, don't you know?"
Adeela was equally in disbelief. "I was considering if this could be some kind of mirage. It's easy to misinterpret things with all the rain and fog, after all."
But Shannon countered, "Mirages do depend on weather conditions, but they mostly occur in open landscapes with simple terrain. This building looks more like it's actively avoiding people."
Bella hadn't been much interested in the show after the first episode. But watching everyone's attention gravitate toward Shannon, an unexplainable frustration crept into her heart.
"Stories of buildings being enlightened are extremely rare even in mystic arts. What makes you so sure it's not the first possibility?"
Shannon turned to her and answered matter-of-factly, "I'm not sure. These are just guesses, and isn't confirming them exactly what we're here to do?"
The atmosphere between them shifted subtly. Sensing the tension, Eddie quickly jumped in to steer the topic back on track and arranged for different teams to set off.
Presley had been silent all this time. But now, he stepped forward. "Their group only has two girls, which puts them at a disadvantage. Shall I join them? At least I can protect them if anything happens."
He felt that their five-person group was too strong compared to Bella's smaller two-person team. As a man, he thought it was only right to look after the ladies.
But his words hung in the air in deep silence. The rest of the cast members gave him odd looks, and even the livestream chat stopped for half a second.
Before he could respond, Bella cut in with a cold voice, "No need. We'll stick to the original groups."
She shot Shannon a glance and turned to pick up her gear.
She'd made up her mind. Even if she was stuck in the same group as Shannon, what could the latter possibly do to her in front of millions of live viewers? The Special Security Agency and Mystic Regulatory Commission wouldn't allow it.
As she thought so, she began walking off. But when she turned around, her pupils constricted.
She gritted her teeth and almost exclaimed, "Why are you taking that?"
Shannon had casually picked up one of the five afro-head cardboard masks from earlier.
Hearing Bella's almost terrified cry, she turned and smiled.
