A torrential downpour hit Arenvale later that night.
The city issued a severe rainstorm signal.
…
Waiting for updates from Seastone, Shannon wasn't surprised when she received a call from Presley. He'd gotten her number from Carlos.
This was about Sylvia, and he believed he had the right to know the truth.
Shannon didn't bother explaining too much, and when Presley requested to meet Sylvia, she simply asked the latter for her opinion.
"She doesn't want to see you."
Sylvia had never thought about reuniting with him back when she was still whole. Now that her face was stolen, there was less of a reason to do so.
After learning that Presley's sudden concern was because he had her father's heart inside him, she outright rejected Presley's request.
Presley immediately grew agitated.
"You arrested Bella and claimed she stole Sylvia's face. But now that you refuse to have me meet the real Sylvia, how do I know you're telling the truth?"
The thought of a conspiracy crept into his mind. "Or is it all a lie? Are you framing Bella just to make her disappear with a false crime? Can you do whatever you want just because you're mystic masters?"
Hearing Presley suddenly descend into conspiracy theories, Shannon glanced at her phone screen, and her expression turned incredulous. Was Presley really an award-winning actor?
"First of all, I have no obligation to prove anything to you. Legally speaking, you have no connection to Sylvia whatsoever."
At the same time, his manager, who'd finally managed to clean up the online mess, received a warning from superiors. He rushed to Presley and stopped him from ruining himself over a woman.
For fear of Presley doing any reckless things again, the agency temporarily took over all his accounts. Only then did he finally settle down.
Just as that issue was handled, Shannon received long-awaited updates about Bella from Seastone. Sure enough, the unexpected happened.
Triston's voice was grave on the other end of the call. "The Special Security Agency interrogated Bella overnight. We even used soul probing, and the result states that…
"Sylvia's soul is, without a doubt, Sylvia herself. She changed her name, that's all. And she's not Maya in disguise as you claimed."
Shannon frowned tightly at his words. "I can also prove that this person in Arenvale, who suffers from a face swap, is the real Sylvia."
