Leah hadn't expected Bella to unleash a thunder talisman right after their first encounter.

After spending so much time with Shannon, she recognized the dangerous spell and angrily shouted, "I'm a contracted phantom helper, and you can't hurt me!"

Bella sneered. "You're exactly who I want to kill."

Leah cursed and sprinted away while sending a distress signal to Shannon. "Shannon, save me! There's a lunatic!"

Bella had no intention of letting her escape. She swiftly chanted the remaining spell, "I wield the decree, to sever the thunder's might, boom, with power and light!"

With a booming roar, a streak of clear lightning tore from the sky and hurtled straight toward Leah.

Sensing the energy from the lightning, Leah knew it wasn't as powerful as Shannon's lightning but still was dangerous enough to hurt her if struck.

Without hesitation, she threw out the protective talisman Shannon had given her and performed the defense incantation taught by Shannon. "Conjure!"

The clear lightning struck the talisman, which absorbed the impact and unleashed a fierce gust of energy back toward Bella.

Caught off guard, Bella had no time to withdraw another talisman and instinctively raised her hand. A barrier of black smoke materialized to block the rebounding force.

Even as the black smoke dissipated, the backlash was strong enough to push Bella several steps back, nearly causing her to fall. Resentment flickered in her eyes as she glared coldly at Leah with reignited murderous intent.

But anyone familiar with primates would recognize the mysterious creature as a white-faced saki by its scientific name. Though it was strange-looking, it was undeniably a real monkey species.

At this moment, though, the monkey wasn't the focus of attention.

Shannon's gaze landed on Bella. Her tone was calm yet carried a subtle chill as she asked, "May I ask in what way Leah offended you to have you try and kill her so ruthlessly?"

Leah flinched upon seeing the baby demon behind Shannon but soon recovered to see the latter back her up. Her grievance surged and completely overshadowed her curiosity.
