Myla brought Mathias to the nearest hospital. Tracing his energy, she successfully located his body but surprisingly found a ghost lying on top of him.
It had its limbs pressed above Mathias' body, and from the looks of it, it planned to possess him.
Myla's expression turned serious. With a flick of her hand, she tossed the still-bound Mathias aside. Without caring where his soul tumbled to, she immediately swung the phantom tether toward the malevolent ghost.
The malevolent ghost's expression darkened abruptly upon realizing her presence. It turned around, ready to flee, yet its body was bound tightly by the phantom tether the next second.
With a tug, Myla brought the malevolent ghost before her feet. Her face was cold as she scolded, "You disembodied him and even attempted to possess his body? Are you trying to face the most gruesome punishments there are in the underworld?"
The malevolent ghost was panic-stricken. "You misunderstood me! I didn't want to possess his body; I only wanted to borrow it!"
"That's not an option, either!"
The malevolent ghost continued to plead, but seeing that Myla was unmoved, it quickly resorted to threats. "I'm an underling of the King of the Dark Mountain! My trip here is a direct order from the Ghost King! You can't capture me!"
An entity that could be called a Ghost King was a terrifying existence with thousands of years of power, and before such an entity, even the most seasoned grim reapers were insignificant.
Even full-time, official underworld travelers often found themselves at a disadvantage before a Ghost King, let alone someone like Myla, a part-timer.
Despite that, she wasn't fazed but asserted dominance instead. "A Ghost King may have his orders, but he can't break the laws of the underworld! What did he want that required a mortal's body?"
After finishing in one breath, Myla heard a prolonged silence on the other end of the phone. Then, she heard Shannon's calm voice saying, "I know."
"You do?" Myla was caught off guard and inhaled sharply the next second. She turned around and saw the clock on the wall, displaying the time past midnight.
Could it already…
"Yeah. He's here." With that, Shannon ended the call.
She raised her eyes, her pupils coldly staring at the Ghost King before her, who was nearly shrouded in negative energy, along with his group of lackeys. The hazelwood sword in her hand slowly gathered mystic light.
