Shannon didn't state her assumptions outright as she wasn't entirely sure yet. She needed to confront the other party before concluding.
"First, take me to your place, and we'll have a look," she said, rising to her feet.
However, Vincent was taken aback. "Just like that?"
"What do you suggest, then?" She looked at him with a confused expression.
He seemed somewhat sheepish. "What I mean is, if we're going to my place now, we should probably put on a disguise."
As ex-colleagues, it wouldn't be a big deal if they were seen having a meal together. However, they might get photographed if they returned to his place, considering the paparazzi around him were endless.
Seeing how Shannon stared at him, he didn't want her to misunderstand and quickly explained, "It's not that I mind being seen together. I'm single; I don't care about that. But… Don't you have a fiancé?
"I wouldn't want the gossip news outlet to be writing nonsense and cause misunderstandings between you and Mr. Cooper."
Vincent's concern was well-justified. In the entertainment industry, anything could easily be blown out of proportion if someone wanted to, let alone them heading to his place.
Shannon was considered an Internet sensation, thanks to her appearance in Sixth Sense. However, she wasn't considered a celebrity, and he didn't want to drag her into that mess.
She naturally understood his good intentions but said, "I don't like sneaking around. If we're photographed in a disguise, it'll only make us look guiltier."
After a pause, she continued, "But you're still right."
After all, she and Benjamin were now officially engaged, not just a fake couple on the surface, but truly "married" in a sense. She had to consider his thoughts and feelings.
So, after some pondering, she took out her phone and sent a message.
She explained the complications of the entertainment industry, and Myla immediately patted her chest, assuring her there was no problem. Vincent also called his agent to come along, and the four of them headed to his place together.
Although Vincent was from the Turner family, he owned a separate house in Jamborough. This time, they were heading to his private residence. He hadn't mentioned the paranormal issue to his family.
The four had just arrived at the entrance of the villa district when they unexpectedly ran into someone at the gate. Coincidentally, Shannon and Myla knew that person, too.
"Vince, you're back? I thought you were taking a break for the next two…" Mathias greeted Vincent in the car with a smile, yet when his gaze landed on the other two passengers, Shannon and Myla, his expression froze.
Vincent recognized the person as a relative from a branch of his family. Just as he was about to suggest that he head back due to his own pressing matters, he instinctively glanced at the guests in his car, sensing something off in Mathias' expression.
Shannon and Myla's expressions, too, looked strange, prompting Vincent to ask, "You guys know him?"
Before the ladies could respond, Mathias quickly chimed in.
