Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 1236

In Arenvale, Maya stood in her newly rented 753-square-foot apartment as she watched a middle-aged man placing a bank card on the table.

"The rent has been paid for six months, and all the furnishings are complete. If you don't like it here, you can find another place later. Also, this card contains two million dollars. It's from Sir Rutherford.

"You can use that money for a small business or investment."

The middle-aged man gave his instructions and, before leaving, cast one last glance at her. "This is the final thing Sir Rutherford will do for you. You're on your own now."

Maya finally reacted this time, looking at the man with red-tinged eyes. "Is Sir Rutherford… really abandoning me?"

The man stayed quiet and only fixed his gaze on her, his silence a loud message.

A bitter smile graced her lips. She glanced over at the small two-bedroom apartment before her and mocked, "This is the final thing he's doing for me, huh? Should I thank him, then?"

Warren bound her spiritual energy, expelled her from the mystic arts community, and cast her out of Jamborough. She would be left in this tiny apartment, like any ordinary person, working tirelessly every day just to make ends meet, doomed to live a dull and monotonous life for the rest of her days.

The middle-aged man frowned slightly at her words, saying, "You violated a sacred taboo in mystic arts, letting the Unmelting Bone escape. The fact that you're only being expelled from the community is a result of Sir Rutherford's intervention.

"What more do you have to complain about?" He looked deeply and regretfully at her. "If you knew this would happen, you should've been wiser when you made that decision. I suggest you spend the rest of your days reflecting."

With that, the man left without another word.

It wasn't until the door of her rental apartment slammed shut with a loud bang that Maya snapped out of her daze, still burning with shame and anger.

She grabbed the bank card from the table, ready to toss it, but her rationality forbade her from doing so. Instead, she collapsed in defeat onto the couch beside her.

As she opened her mouth, a chilling voice drifted through the air. "You can see me…"

Maya retreated frantically, instinctively wanting to pull out a talisman to bust the female ghost. Yet, the next second, she remembered she had lost her spiritual energy.

Immediately, she dismissed her initial plan and resorted to chanting the Golden Decree. Despite lacking spiritual energy, even an ordinary person could chant the Golden Decree to ward off spirits.

"O' heaven and earth, heed my call. All ill intents, rout the abyss. Demons flee, souls vanish. Lighting strikes, o' fear my name. Light sears, and mortals cloak!”

As expected, the female ghost above her became motionless at her chant.

Just as Maya assumed it was effective, the female ghost, seemingly enraged, suddenly surged with ghastly energy and looked at her with a twisted, resentful expression.
