Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 1198

Before the system could select its first victim, Shannon called out, "Leah!"

Leah, who had been teaming up with Benji Gold to place all the hanging victims back to the ground, swiftly returned to position upon Shannon's call.

"I'm coming!" While speaking, she extended a hand, grabbed the system's chosen victim away from it, and stuffed the soul back into its rightful body.

The system was mad. The living soul belonged to it! It was the fruition of its effort!

Just as it prepared to withdraw its help as a sign of protest, Shannon coldly threatened, "Continue your work. Otherwise, I'll finish you before the Blood Fiend."

That was a blatant threat, something the system could do nothing about.

The black smoke around the tortoise's body surged violently in an instant. Then, it turned its head and, with a vengeful force, continued to pull out more souls.

As each soul was retrieved, the enormous form of the Blood Fiend gradually shrank.

Alaric gritted his teeth, still chanting incantations under his breath. As his chanting grew more intense, the Blood Fiend's struggle became fiercer. The mystic chain that bound it was on the verge of collapsing.

At that, Shannon switched up her mudra and infused more mystic light into the chain. Her forehead slowly formed a layer of sweat as her spiritual energy rapidly depleted.

That said, Alaric wasn't faring any better. As he continued chanting, the wrinkles on his face deepened visibly, with age spots coming and fading.

The two of them were locked in a fierce battle of spells, neither giving an inch.

Just as Shannon was about to lose control over the Blood Fiend, the system finally extracted all the souls from its body. Leah quickly took over, shouting, "They're all out!"

The next instance, Shannon withdrew her mystic chain and immediately hurled three thunder talismans at Alaric. "Boom, with power and light!"

Three bolts of purple lightning pierced through the roof of the warehouse and charged toward him.

Alaric was well-prepared, swiftly recalling the Blood Fiend.

The purple lightning struck down, its dazzling light spiraling around the perimeter of the warehouse before shooting straight toward the direction where he stood.

The first strike obliterated the Blood Fiend into ashes, and the second and third strikes shattered the protective instruments Alaric had set up.

Due to drawing a talisman in the void, he had greatly depleted his spiritual energy. Beads of sweat continuously formed on his forehead, yet he gave his everything to maintain the light.

As the ghouls began to grow sluggish under the light, Skylar and Elliot worked together to reseal them within the barrier.

Suddenly, the dark cloud that had obscured most of the village's sunlight vanished. The village was bathed in light once more.

The three of them paused for a moment in surprise, then their faces lit up with joy.

The return of the sunlight meant the ghouls would soon revert to their human forms! By then, it would be much easier to deal with them!

However, it appeared they had celebrated too soon.

"Wait a minute. Why aren't they transforming at all?"

While Celine raised the question, Skylar had also vaguely sensed something was wrong.
