Not even Leah, the ninth victim of The Firstborn's Woe, had thought about sacrificing her clan for a ritual.
Shannon nodded, finally confirming her suspicions. Then, she briefed Mike about the situation on their side.
When he heard Alaric's ultimate goal was to complete the Decaybringer Array, he was utterly stunned. Scheming against the entire village was vile enough, yet he aimed for something much bigger and more terrifying!
If he completed the Decaybringer Array, the world would turn into… Mike stopped his thoughts.
Shannon then informed him about the new plan she concocted with Lexie. "Skylar and the others should be setting an array to trap those ghouls for now. However, it can only hold them back for so long.
"Once the night comes, the deadly toxin within the ghouls would be activated, making the villagers much harder to deal with than now. It'll be tough to handle them with just the six of us.
"To be safe, we must set an isolation array across the village."
Meanwhile, Lexie couldn't help but feel a surge of hesitation again. Although Mike was skilled in arrays and geomancy, she didn't believe they could form a complete isolation array across the village overnight.
It was simply too difficult.
However, Mike narrowed his eyes and asked Shannon, "So, what you're saying is…"
"What I'm saying is—it's possible for us to create an isolation array across a large vicinity. Therefore, I'm suggesting you do what you do best and steal Alaric's barrier for our own use."
As long as they held control over the barrier surrounding the village, they wouldn't have to worry about Alaric panicking and prematurely lifting the barrier to release the ghouls.
Naturally, Lexie was taken by surprise by Shannon's true plan. But… stealing the barrier?
Mike's lips trembled awkwardly. "What are you saying? I'd never do anything like stealing…"
"We just have to try." Shannon looked at Mike, who drew a long, deep breath. He had no choice but to do his very best under such extreme circumstances.
"Lexie, go with Mike."
Breaking through the large barrier surrounding the village wouldn't be easy for Mike to do alone. He needed someone by his side to protect him while he searched for the weak points. But with that, it meant Shannon was left to handle things on her own.
Meeting Lexie's concerned gaze, Shannon assured, "I know how to deal with him. I've crossed paths with him, after all."
Not to mention, she had a wild card. "The only problem now is to locate Alaric…"
As soon as she raised her concern, a weak male voice echoed from the side. It belonged to Janel, who had been quietly listening to their conversation.
He cautiously raised his hand and said, "About that… I know where he is…"
