Due to the possible involvement of an evil master, the colleges did not permit their undergraduates to work alone. Instead, four Special Security Agents would tag along and lead each team.
The Special Security Agents would not be involved in the tournament's evaluation. Each group's performance would still be scored by the judges based on individual performances captured from the surveillance talisman.
Given each body-snatching case was different, each group would draw lots to determine which case they were responsible for. Afterward, each group would head to the designated clue locations and meet with the assigned Special Security Agents.
Team Seastone was assigned to the hospital. When they arrived, the Special Security Agents were casting a spell on a woman. Instead of interrupting, they merely stood at the door and watched.
"That's the Art of Soul Stabilization," Skylar uttered softly.
Then, the agent muttered, "Soul united, breath in harmony; in stillness, all changes pass unshaken…"
Following his chant, the woman on the bed slowly opened her eyes. Perhaps because of her newly stabilized soul, she appeared to be in a daze.
At that, the agent simply turned toward the door and gestured for the group to enter. He appeared to be around 27 to 28, with striking features and a gentle look in his eyes.
He glanced at the five members and asked, "Are you the mystic school students here to help with the investigation?"
"Yes. We're from Seastone."
The agent nodded. "The Special Security Agency mandates that each case must be handled by at least two people. However, due to the sudden nature of this situation, they couldn't spare extra personnel to form teams, which is why you guys are allowed to participate in the investigation.
"There might be unforeseen dangers during the investigation, so I need you guys to stay close to me."
Team Seastone nodded obediently.
He laughed, adding, "I graduated from the Jamborough School. Although we're from different regions, we're more or less college mates. Anyway, I'm Edward; you can call me Ed."
"Okay, Ed." Without Mike, Lexie automatically assumed the role of the group's communicator.
"I stared at the figure for a long time. It seemed like they noticed me, and somehow, out of nowhere, my vision suddenly blurred, and my mind went blank. I couldn't remember anything after that."
Luna's information was limited. She had barely made out the figure's face before fainting from fright. Edward continued interviewing her but received no helpful clues.
Suddenly, Shannon asked, "Were you, by any chance, wearing something like a protective talisman when you fainted?"
At that, Luna appeared to be reminded of something and quickly fished out her phone. She removed her phone case, which unexpectedly spilled some black ashes.
"Huh? Why did it turn into ashes? I put the protective talisman my granny gave me in there!"
Edward's eyes lit up, clearly surprised to find that she was carrying a protective talisman. After all, she had been so scared that her soul nearly escaped, and he hadn't considered that she might have been shielded from something else.
Moreover, at the time, he hadn't found any protective talisman or similar object on her. Who would've thought it was hidden inside her phone case?
