Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 1109

From what Skylar knew, there was a Darkwoot family in the mystic art community of Jamborough, but they'd declined significantly over the years compared to the renowned mystical families.

Shannon continued to question Wesley but eventually decided to give up when he couldn't provide any meaningful answers.

Still unwilling to give up, Wesley pulled out his phone and eagerly suggested, "Ms. Jensen, let's exchange numbers, shall we?"

Olivia was irked by his persistence and about to step forward to intervene when a hand suddenly reached out and scanned Wesley's QR code. Then, there was a beep.

The room fell into awkward silence. Everyone including Shannon turned to see Skylar standing there with a calm and serious expression. He said, "I'm her senior. Getting my number is the same thing."

Wesley was utterly dumbstruck. How could that be the same thing?

"Pfft!" Olivia couldn't hold back her laughter. When she noticed an irritated glare from Wesley, she instinctively ducked behind Skylar and quickly offered a half-hearted explanation.

"Uh, sorry. It's just that Skylar's profile picture is hilarious. I couldn't help it."

Skylar glanced at his profile picture which was a serene image of sunrise over the clouds. He didn't see what was so funny about it.

As he pondered, he caught Olivia playfully winking at him and giving him a subtle thumbs-up.

Not bad. Skylar was finally showing how a senior should behave. That was pretty cool just now.

Skylar caught the clear admiration and amusement in her eyes, and his heart skipped a beat. He cleared his throat and quickly looked away to avoid her gaze.

Though in disbelief, Wesley removed the pendant and handed it over with a dark face.

Skylar didn't touch it directly. Instead, he wrapped the pendant in a talisman and took it over to inspect the sigils closely.

After a long moment, he said, "This pendant has indeed been tampered with. The sigils in it form a forbidden counterspell that transfers lifespan."

"What do you mean by transferring lifespan?" Wesley was utterly confused.

Shannon explained, "In simpler terms, the pendant appears to ward off calamity, but it comes with the cost of siphoning off a portion of the wearer's lifespan. The stolen lifespan is then used by the mystic master casting the curse."

As for the person who'd been stealing the Darkmores' lifespan for generations, Shannon was almost certain that it was Alaric.
