Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 1085

Caleb and Hank were equally dumb. The former didn't inform Shannon about the system's lingering existence, while the latter "forgot" to tell her the Mini Stone Turtle was hungry. What a fun guessing game!

Noticing her odd expression, Hank belatedly asked, "What's wrong? Are things serious?"

Shannon was expressionless. "You can say so."

She pointed at the Mini Stone Turtle and solemnly stated, "It told you it was hungry, yet you only gave it some raw stones. It's not enough for it, obviously. It eats a piece every night, and if you didn't refill its food in time, it probably would've eaten you."

She was determined to scare Hank, which worked—her serious demeanor as she spoke convinced him. As absurd as she sounded, he dared not doubt her.

His countenance shifted immediately, and he instinctively retreated away from the Mini Stone Turtle. "It… It could've eaten me? Why would you give something so dangerous to me?"

Did she plan to sacrifice him or something?

Shannon countered, "I only did what you asked me to. Spiritual instruments are inherently unpredictable until it's fully developed.

"It showed itself to you in the beginning, and since you've chosen to bring it into existence, you must take responsibility for what it becomes."

She paused, then continued softly, "You must understand that supernatural entities do not allow mortals to easily glimpse their true forms. Once you've seen what they look like, made eye contact, or even spoken their name aloud, a connection is formed between you and them."

This time, she spoke the truth.

The moment one met eyes with some evil spirits, they might attach themselves to that person.

Of course, there were also benevolent ones, like the ghost couple that Trevor summoned with his wish.

Had he known there was such an unspoken rule, he wouldn't even have thought about sculpting it. Now, he felt nothing but regret…

Shannon added, "Since it's chosen you, you have no choice but to stick with it. Forget about abandoning it. If you anger it, the consequences will be unimaginable."

"You read my mind, didn't you?" Hank thought.

His defeated look made her realize she might've overly intimidated him. For once, she consoled him. "You don't have to be this scared. As long as you ensure it absorbs enough spiritual energy and raw stones, it won't harass you.

"Who knows? If you do a good job, it might even be your guardian angel."

"That makes sense, but I'd still like to pass on it," Hank thought.
