Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 1052

Shannon didn't know how she should respond to Benjamin's statement. Her thoughts were inexplicably muddled when she met his deep gaze.

A strange emotion stirred in her chest, but she dared not dwell on it.

She mumbled after a long pause, "Oh."

Then feeling as if her response was too bland, she racked her brain and finally seemed to think of something. "But how do you happen to have a unit upstairs?"

It wasn't that Shannon was surprised Benjamin could own another property. Given his wealth, he could likely buy a property in any city he wanted.

What puzzled her was how he just so happened to have a unit right above hers. Even if he'd decided to move in at the last minute, he couldn't have conjured up a suitable property that evening. So, the unit upstairs must belong to him.

Benjamin seemed unsurprised by her question. He explained, "This building was developed by the Cooper Group."

When Scott had been looking for a property to gift Shannon as a birthday present with all his brothers, he'd consulted Benjamin. The latter had arranged for two units to be set aside, including one for Shannon and the other for himself.

He initially had no plans for the second unit, but now it seemed keeping it had been a wise choice.

Benjamin knew Shannon didn't like to be protected at all times, and she didn't need it either. He said, "You mentioned wanting to involve me in earning merit; is that offer still valid?"

Shannon was caught off guard by the sudden mention of the topic. She nodded. "Of course."

Though she was curious about the secret behind his golden light, she did want to help him restore it. She no longer pondered on her concerns after hearing he'd moved in to earn merits.

The particular mission had been issued by the Jamborough Demon Control Agency. It began when three women at the same hospital in Jamborough were simultaneously pregnant with multiple fetuses.

While multiple births were pretty common, the unusual concentration of such cases at one hospital and the similar timeframe caught attention.

Many people didn't realize that multiple births could be conducted through IVF. Couples who couldn't conceive naturally due to medical conditions would resort to cultivating embryos outside the body before implanted in the uterus.

To ensure a successful pregnancy, several embryos would be implanted at the same time, because the survival rate of a single embryo would be uncertain.

Implanting multiple embryos would increase the likelihood of at least a single surviving embryo.
