Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 1040

Tortoise the System lay on the desk. It had barely regained its composure after narrowly escaping Marshmallow's jaws when it heard Shannon initiating a conversation.

It slowly emerged its head from the shell and arrogantly glanced at her before playing dead. "Don't even think about getting any information about the Divine Power from me, human!" it thought.

Faced with its silence, Shannon raised her brows slightly and feigned strictness. "Looks like you prefer playing with Marshmallow."

She pretended to summon the fox again.

Immediately, Tortoise the System stretched its neck out, elongating it in a flash. "I'm doing you a favor by answering your questions, yet you barely have the right attitude to do it! Forget about your questions!"

"It finally spoke. I guess it's an improvement," Shannon thought. Suddenly, she was interested in chatting with it. "What kind of attitude should I have?"

"Allow me to have a host!"

The system repeated its usual request, and she unhesitatingly refused it. "As I said, I'd never be your host. Not me, not anyone else. So, forget about it."

Shannon casually grabbed the tortoise's shell, twisting its body around, as if signaling the end of the conversation.

However, she noticed the system turned in a new direction, and with a series of huffing and puffing sounds, it immediately rotated back to its original position. "Fine, not a human. But at least let me switch my body!"

It dreaded staying another second in this shell. Not only was it ugly, but it even moved in slow motion.

"Like?" Shannon was quite curious to know what kind of body it wanted. If it wasn't a ridiculous request, she might consider it.

Then came the system's solemn, robotic voice. "I want to be an alligator-snapping turtle!"

Indeed, the system was entranced by the appearance of an alligator-snapping turtle at first sight. It was ferocious, dominant, and huge! The look of the supreme leader of turtles!

The system wasn't particularly fond of being a reptile per se, but if it had to stay a tortoise, it wanted to be the most intimidating one. Once its carapace stretched over 28 inches, that stupid Marshmallow could never fling it around like its toy again.

Shannon looked at the tortoise, the size of her palm, with a complicated gaze. She couldn't tell if this was the system or the tortoise's dream.

Though it sounded absurd, she pretended to accept the deal so she could acquire more useful information from the system. Worst case scenario—she would just get a larger cage to lock up the snapping turtle.

"Okay, deal." Her promise quickly made Tortoise the System wiggle its head in excitement. The next second, it suddenly froze as it stared at a spot.

The system became agitated, quickly crawling toward a specific spot on the desk. Then, it pointed at the unfinished emerald pendant in excitement.
