Heartstrings on Fire (Agnes and Jared) novel Chapter 729

Agnes felt a pang of sorrow in her heart. She walked straight over to Mamie and hugged her.

Mamie struggled a bit, but Agnes held her even tighter, and in the end, Mamie stopped struggling. They both ended up crying.

Choking on her words, Mamie said, "Don't think that this means I've forgiven you. If you ever disappear like that again, I swear I'll skin you alive."

Two men stood on the sidelines, watching this scene.

Jared spoke up, "She never showed that much concern for me." Ivan echoed, "Same here."

The two men exchanged a glance and said in unison, "Ah, women."

When they sat down, Mamie was like a different person. She was all warmth and concern for Agnes, asking about her life over the past few years. And Agnes shared her experiences in Manhattan in a chatterbox manner.

Mamie listened, her heart aching. A young woman struggling alone in a foreign place, wandering for four years.

Agnes talked about her thrilling experiences as a journalist as if they were just interesting stories.

But everyone else was on edge, only she seemed nonchalant. Even Jared was hearing these stories for the first time.

Agnes was shocked. She had no idea about any of this four years ago when she had a falling out with Jared. Had Jared really been helping her behind the scenes?

Agnes turned to look at Jared, who calmly had some water. "Don't look at me like that. It was no big deal."

Whether it was a big deal or not, Agnes knew better. It was all Laura's scheming back then. If she hadn't asked for such a high price, Laura wouldn't have sold her shares. And then Jared had to buy back all the shares from various shareholders, which wasn't a smooth process.

He must have done all this under a lot of pressure from his family.

Agnes couldn't describe how she felt. All she knew was that she owed this man a lot.
