Chapter 570 

Agnes and Ryder both paused when they heard that. 

Agnes quickly clarified, “I’m not Mr. Ryder’s girlfriend.” 

Seeing Agnes‘ displeasure, the maid was a bit flustered. 

She’d intended to butter up Ms. Agnes, but it seemed like Ms. Agnes didn’t like that. 

The maid nervously glanced at Mr. Ryder. 

Mr. Ryder looked indifferent, just saying to Agnes, “Let’s go.” 

Ryder led the way, with Agnes tagging along, thinking the Thomas family might have gotten the wrong idea. 

If she’d been clear–headed yesterday, she definitely wouldn’t have gone to Ryder’s room. 

She sighed inwardly. 

No one here knew her, so she didn’t need to fret over it. 

The people in the restaurant were the same as yesterday. 

Laura saw Agnes and asked with concern, “Agnes, are you feeling better? Why didn’t you tell me if you were feeling unwell?” 

Agnes gave a smile, “I’m fine.” 

Beatrice was sarcastic on the side, “With Ryder taking care of you, I bet you’ll recover faster than anyone else. Look at his dark circles, you two must’ve had a rough night, huh?” 

Beatrice deliberately made their relationship sound ambiguous. 

Raleign laughed and said, “Ryder, you should’ve told us if you got a girlfriend. Your dad would be thrilled.” 

Ryder responded, “It’s nothing like that.” 

Ryder’s voice was cold, but his tone casual, but people weren’t easily convinced. 

Everyone in the household knew Ryder’s character well. 

Taking a girl to his room? How could that be a misunderstanding? 

Everyone gave them suggestive looks. 

The more Ryder explained, the less people believed him. 

Agnes and Ryder had been the subject of gossip before. 

Back in Manhattan, Agnes‘ friends all thought Ryder was her boyfriend. 

The more she explained, the more complicated things got. 

Both of them tacitly sat down and started eating breakfast. 

Halfway through, Agnes said to Laura, “Ms. Laura, thank you for your care these past few days. I should be going, I’ll move out this afternoon.” 

Before Laura could respond, Hammer suddenly stepped forward and said, “Mr. Thomas is coming back to the country today, he’d like to meet Ms. Agnes.” 

Agnes was taken aback, “Meet me?” 

Agnes knew that Mr. Thomas referred to the head of the Thomas family, Ryder’s biological father, Cilian, but why did he want to see her? 

Hammer explained, “Mr. Thomas learned that we have an esteemed guest at home, so he’s made a special trip back. He hopes Ms. Agnes could stay a bit longer.” 

Everyone knew what was up, Cilian probably wanted to meet her because he thought she was Ryder’s girlfriend. 

Ryder had been suspected of being gay for years, which was a thorn in Cilian’s side. 

Kevin was openly gay in public. 

If the third young master of the Thomas family also had a thing for men… 

So, yesterday Raleign had made a phone call, and naturally Cilian would come back to check things out himself. 

Agnes didn’t know the real reason, but she couldn’t refuse this request. 

Agnes said, “It’s my honor to meet Mr. Thomas.” 

Kevin patted Ryder’s shoulder and said, “Our dad surely wants to make you join the company. Our family’s company is almost completely under Valeria Thomas’s control, I don’t know why dad treats her like his own daughter.” 

Hammer interjected, “Ms. Thomas will be back tonight.”
