“I didn’t say I wanted it.” Stella quickly clarified.

“But your eyes look like they really want it.” Jordan teased.

“I like it, but I don’t like the story behind it,” Stella admitted

Max joined the bidding. Jordan smiled and kept raising the bid. Max wanted to win the bracelets for Anna, and seeing Jordan jump in made him furious.

“Stella never lets Anna have her way, and now even her husband doesn’t either. No matter what, Max was going to get those bracelets today, Max thought.

Anna glanced at Lionel, who still seemed absent–minded. She had thought that with him here, he’d bid on things she liked, but he hadn’t even raised his paddle once.

Max noticed too and cast a glance at Lionel. He turned to Anna and said, “Don’t worry, Anna. If he won’t bid for you, I will”

“Thanks, Max,” Anna said with a smile. But even as she smiled, Anna felt nothing but loneliness inside. Her hands clenched into fists. “Stella, Anna thought, her feelings a tangled mess.

Suddenly, Lionel started bidding. Anna’s face lit up with joy. ‘He must have finally come around. He really does want to get those bracelets for me,’ she thought to herself.

Stella overheard Lionel and turned to Jordan. “I really don’t like them. You don’t have to bid for me.”

“Are you worried I’m spending too much?” Jordan asked with a grin.

“Yeah, these bracelets are way overpriced at 1.5 million now,” Stella replied.

They’re really only worth a little over 300 thousand dollars, but Jordan and Max kept raising the bids, and now the price has shot up to 1.5 million.

Suddenly, Jordan shouted, “2.5 million.” The whole room was stunned.

It was obvious he was trying to buy it for the two of them, but the story behind those bracelets was just too tragic. Honestly, it just didn’t suit a happy couple like them.

“3 million.” Lionel suddenly called out.

By the time the price hit 1 million, it was already over Max’s budget. The Hayes family figured that was good enough. Still, they all knew if Anna wanted something, they’d always try to make it happen for her.

They were actually planning to bid on two items tonight. If they blew their budget on this one, they’d have to give up on the other, and there’d be no way to do some charity work to boost the company’s image.

But as soon as Lionel shouted 3 million, Max gave up. If they couldn’t get Anna what she wanted, well, someone else would step in.

Stella let out a sigh of relief. Sure, that kind of money wasn’t a big deal for Stella, and for Jordan, it was basically pocket change.

But seeing her like that, Jordan couldn’t help but tease her. “Were you that scared I’d keep bidding? Or were you thinking of letting Anna win instead?”

“There’s no point in getting into a bidding war with them. It’s not worth it. Let’s just buy what we like and not worry about them,” Stella replied

“But I want you to know. I did it on purpose,” Jordan said with a mischievous grin, Stella’s eyes widened as she looked at him.

“That’s right, I did it on purpose. I knew you didn’t really want those bracelets, so I was never actually going to buy them, 1 just wanted to make them bleed a little more money and help you vent your frustration,” he explained.

Stella couldn’t help but smile. “Honestly, I do feel a lot better now.”

Later, the Hayes family successfully bid on another item, planning to use it for charity. But when the final item hit the stage, all the women in the room were absolutely smitten.

It was an ancient phoenix crown, exquisitely crafted. Legend has it. The Queen herself wore it when she married the King. The gemstones and every detail were perfectly preserved; just one glance and you’d be blown away.

“18 million.” Someone called out.

“21 million.” Another bidder shouted.

Before the Hayes family even had a chance to bid, the price had already hit 30 million dollars. Fiona was a bundle of nerves, quickly looking between her son and husband. Andrew stopped her.

Max raised his paddle. “33 million.”
