Following Charlotte's guidance, Joe also spotted the small figure of Samuel near the crevice.
"It's actually better that he hasn't regained consciousness yet," Joe furrowed his brow. "If he wakes up and struggles violently, he might continue to fall further down, and then..."
Although he didn't finish his sentence, Charlotte understood his meaning.
"We should notify the team leader first," she suggested.
Charlotte took out the walkie-talkie given to her by the team leader and contacted them.
"We've located Samuel's position. Please come to our marked location," Charlotte briefly informed the team leader about Samuel's situation. On the other end of the walkie-talkie, the team leader sighed in relief.
No matter what, the fact that the child was still alive was good.
The team leader said they would arrive within ten minutes, and Joe and Charlotte felt slightly relieved.
However, at that moment, the sky suddenly became overcast.
Charlotte furrowed her brow, looking up at the rapidly gathering dark clouds overhead, a sense of foreboding creeping into her heart.
"This weather..."
Charlotte had just turned to look at Joe when a strong wind started blowing around them.
The winds in Antarctica were unlike those inland. These winds were extremely fast and carried plenty of snowflakes and ice shards, which stung when they hit.
Charlotte and Joe hadn't expected the weather to change so rapidly, and both of them saw the seriousness of the situation in each other's eyes.
"Let's find a place to shelter from this wind," Charlotte frowned as she said to Joe.
Leaving aside the fact that they still had to watch over Samuel here, even if they wanted to leave now, the wind would make it impossible for them to move.
Joe nodded in agreement, surveying their surroundings. He spotted a crevice formed by glacial rocks that could fit the two.
Initially, they thought the wind would come and go in bursts, but it turned out that it showed no signs of stopping. Instead, it was growing stronger by the minute.
Even though they were sheltered in the crevice, both of them frowned.
"If this wind doesn't stop..."
Charlotte's anxiety grew stronger, and she held Joe tightly.
She suddenly regretted suggesting that they go and find Samuel. Joe wouldn't be in this predicament with her if she hadn't.
"I'm sorry..." Charlotte looked at Joe with guilt, but he shook his head.
"We found the child, didn't we? Once the wind stops, they'll come to rescue us quickly..." Joe's words were cut short as a massive rock came hurtling toward them in the howling wind.
Charlotte's eyes widened in terror. "Watch out!"
