Puzzled, Lena gave Gideon another hard punch.
This time, she didn't hold back, causing Gideon to groan. Worriedly, Gideon looked at Lena and said, "Didn't you just pass out? Don't hurt yourself with such force."
Lena was speechless.
How did she never realize that Gideon could be so caring?
"This child..." Lena suddenly became serious, causing Gideon to feel nervous.
Did she not want this child?
Gideon recalled her attitude towards marriage and relationships, feeling very worried.
Lena looked at Gideon and spoke firmly. "This child is mine."
"But he's also my child," Gideon replied, furrowing his brow.
Lena darted her eyes. "You can find someone else to have another one..."
Gideon chuckled in frustration. He stood by Lena's bed, looming over her with a sense of pressure. "Lena, say that again?"
Faced with his angry gaze, Lena dared not look at him.
Gideon straightened up and stared at Lena. "I can understand your fear of marriage and love, and I'm willing to wait for you to trust me. But you can't ignore my feelings because of these fears, and you certainly can't..."
Gideon took a deep breath, then exclaimed, "Treat them recklessly and trample on my feelings."
After saying that, he angrily stormed out of the ward.
Lena's assistant, looking nervous, walked in. She looked concernedly at Lena and said, "Ms. Jenkins, are you..."
That was why Lena didn't believe in marriage, let alone in men. She had worked hard to crawl out of that quagmire and would never allow herself to fall back into it, nor did she want to become a perpetrator.
Lost in her thoughts, she heard a sound at the door of the ward.
Lena thought it was the assistant and turned her head, saying helplessly, "I told you I don't need any help. I'm not..."
As she turned her head, she froze upon seeing the person at the door.
It was Gideon.
Gideon was still unhappy but placed two exquisite meal boxes in front of her.
"I heard that you fainted as soon as you started working. You must be hungry now." He gently placed the food on Lena's tray and spoke warmly to her.
