Chapter 47
In this moment, even the air felt thicker.
Yes, I was about to become the Luna of Black Mountain Pack.
But now, I couldn’t say it.
Not because of wavering, nor shame in admitting it. I simply couldn’t tolerate letting Black Mountain’s future Luna bear the stigma of “thief” in such an embarrassing situation.
Adrian turned his head to glance at me.
I gently shook my head.
In that instant, he understood my expression.
He chose to respect me.
Adrian casually dropped a line:
‘Dr. Windsor is one of the core consultants for the intelligent surgical system that our Black Mountain pack has been developing recently. I personally selected
her.”
‘Before long, she will come to Black Mountain pack to personally supervise this project.”
‘By then, she will become a member of Black Mountain. Is there any problem with that?”
As his words fell, the surroundings immediately fell into dead silence.
No one dared make a sound, even breathing became muted.
Ferris’s expression finally showed a crack, his Adam’s apple bobbing once, his voice hoarse:
You’re going to Black Mountain? Why didn’t you tell me?”
looked at him, my gaze calm and distant, my voice gentle yet every word clear:
‘Alpha Ferris, you’re a busy man. I’m just an inconspicuous healer in Silver Moon Pack who wants to leave. Do I really need to specifically report to you?”
His face suddenly stiffened, emotions surging in his eyes.
That was anger, confusion, and… disbelief.
After several seconds, he finally said in a low voice: “I won’t allow it.”
Ashley stared intently at Ferris’s expression that flickered with concern for me, jealousy and anger in her heart almost tearing her apart.
“Alpha Adrian, do you know that this doctor you’ve hired is actually a thief?”
Her voice carried bone–chilling coldness, stepping aggressively toward Adrian, her tone full of provocation and unwillingness.
She shook out all the contents onto the floor, and indeed a diamond ring fell out.
“I never expected Dr. Windsor to be this kind of person.”
“My God, I really misjudged her!”
“How can a thief be a doctor? What if she steal organs next time?”
“Stealing rings, gosh, how poor are you?”
Hearing the accusations from people around me, I felt like I had fallen into an ice cave.
Not because I was worried or afraid my reputation would be ruined, but because I didn’t want to drag Adrian down.
At this moment, I received his gaze.
