Jamie on the other end of the phone understood what Brayan meant.

After hanging up the phone, Brayan saw Jennifer walk out of the ward and gently close the door.

“Grandpa fell asleep, I’ll stay here tonight.”

Jennifer’s words left Brayan momentarily stunned.

He gave a faint smile, “What, you’re not divorcing me?”

“Marriage still has to end.”

Jennifer was determined, and Brayan’s slight smile slowly disappeared.

“So when can you finally go to the courthouse with me?”

“Grandpa hasn’t been discharged yet, and you can’t wait?”

Jennifer saw Brayan take/out a pack of cigarettes from his coat pocket.

“Smoking is not allowed in the hospital.”

She reminded softly.

Brayan tightened his fingers holding the cigarette, and the cigarette packaging got crumpled by him.

“Divorce is allowed…but not in Trousia.”

Brayan’s cold voice was like a solid block of ice rubbing against Jennifer’s eardrums.

“We went to the courthouse together, but the risk was too high, so we changed the location… We secretly got divorced overseas. It just happened that Jasper and Janet are getting married in Priusiland next month, so we went to attend the wedding together. We took care of the divorce procedures locally and then got the divorce certificate authenticated by the consulate, so the courthouse back home would update the system.”

Today Jennifer went back home.
