Jennifer grabbed a glass of liquor and downed it in one gulp.
The burn was searing, but it cleared her head.
She stared at the empty glass and suddenly realized something.
Tonight’s banquet had been going on for nearly two hours, but Brayan hadn’t touched any alcohol.
Jennifer figured Brayan’s stomach problems must have flared up.
They had been arguing over divorce these past few days, and she hadn’t brewed any herbal medicine that she used to prepare for him regularly. Brayan definitely hadn’t taken any either, because only she knew the exact prescription and the way to brew it.
“Brayan deserves this,” the thought flashed through Jennifer’s mind.
But she couldn’t bring herself to be that cruel.
Jennifer pulled out her phone and carefully typed out every detail of Brayan’s prescription. Before sending it, she hesitated about whether she should add something to make the message more natural, like explaining her behavior, or simply wishing him would get better.
She typed and deleted it again and again. In the end, Jennifer sent the prescription without adding a single extra word.
Brayan’s phone received the WhatsApp message, but he wasn’t the one who read it.
Catalina turned her back, silently memorized the content Jennifer had

sent, and then deleted the message.
Brayan was talking to others.
Even though he was here tonight as Catalina’s plus–one, plenty of people knew him, and socializing was inevitable. But he hadn’t touched any wine. It was all because of his intense stomach pain.
The pain also made his presence colder than usual as if everything about the banquet was putting him in a bad mood.
“Brayan…”
When the banquet was about to be over,-Brayan saw Catalina come over with a bowl of steaming medicinal soup.
The scent was familiar. But back when he and Catalina were dating, his stomach had been fine.
