She was watering the flowers when she suddenly looked up and saw Heriberto standing on the balcony outside the third–floor study, staring at her.
She thought Heriberto wasn’t home.
After a glance, she looked away and continued watering the plants.
There was a big persimmon tree in the backyard, full of persimmons.
At the end of September, it was the season when persimmons were ripe, hanging red and orange on the branches.
After watering the flowers, Iris called Agnese over. They grabbed two baskets and went to the backyard to pick persimmons.
The persimmon tree was too tall, so Iris used to climb up to pick the fruit, but this year it was obviously not possible.
Agnese didn’t dare to climb, so she went to find a long bamboo pole and changed picking persimmons to knocking persin..mons.
Iris raised the bamboo pole to do it herself, but Agnèse didn’t dare let a pregnant woman do it. She snatched it away and started hitting it herself.
Iris was picking berries under the tree, she was so happy.
In previous years, she picked persimmons and didn’t waste a single one. She made persimmon cakes and kept them in the fridge, they were great for giving away or eating herself.

Chapter62
Agnese was getting old, she raised a long bamboo pole and knocked for about ten minutes before running out of strength, panting heavily.
Just as Agnese was about to take a break, out of nowhere, Heriberto came over, took the bamboo pole from her hand, and said, “Let me do it.”
Agnese was startled, quickly turned around to look.
“Oh, Mr. Hale, how come you’re here?”
Seeing Heriberto behind her with a smile on his face, she couldn’t tell if it was a look of shock or delight.
“You go back, I’ll come.”
Heriberto said a few words, then he raised the bamboo stick and hit the branch full of a bunch of persimmons.
In an instant, the sky seemed to be raining persimmons, with bright orange persimmons falling one after another.
“Wow, Mr. Hale is really good. Just one knock from him is worth ten knocks from me,” Agnese exclaimed excitedly as she watched.
Iris glanced at Heriberto, didn’t say anything, and silently continued picking persimmons.
Agnese saw the happy scene of the couple and couldn’t be happier, so she quietly disappeared.
Heriberto was strong and accurate. With just a few hits, half of the persimmons on the tree fell to the ground.
As the sun was setting in the west, under the persimmon tree even more beautiful than the sunset, a man and a woman were there. One tall and straight figure stood there holding a stick and knocking, while

the other graceful and gentle figure was bending down picking. The scene was so beautiful, it was almost intoxicating.
Heriberto picked a lot of persimmons, but each one seemed to obey him, not a single one fell on Iris.
Soon, Iris had filled two big baskets with the persimmons she picked.
She bent down to pick it up, but before she could grab the basket, a big hand reached out and took it. Before she could even try, the person had already effortlessly lifted the basket full of persimmons.
Heriberto grabbed another full basket and walked briskly towards the main building.
Iris stood behind him, quietly watching his tall and strong figure, keeping pace with him steadily.
The persimmons were packed too full, and every now and then a few would roll out of the basket. Iris would pick them up one by one.
Picked up too much, couldn’t hold it all, so she lifted the hem of her clothes and used it as a makeshift bag.
