Chapter 146
But she couldn’t act too much like a princess, so she forced herself to calm down, kept all the nutrition and soup brought to her, and then left.
Curtis reported the situation to Heriberto truthfully.
“Who told you to leave her stuff here, throw it all out for me,” Heriberto yelled angrily.
“Geez, lying in bed and still in a bad mood, be careful, these people at home are too lazy to take care of you.”
Before Curtis could respond, another rude voice chimed in.
I looked to the door, and who should be there but Heriberto’s childhood friend Everett.
Heriberto gave Everett a cold look and told Curtis, “Get out.”
“Yes, Mr. Hale,” Curtis nodded, then called out to Everett, “Mr. Alpinus,” before leaving.
“What did Katrina do to you? She really made you so angry?”
Everett simply nodded at Curtis, then lazily strolled over to the sofa by the bed and plopped down on it, still wearing that carefree look, lips slightly curled as he glanced at Heriberto on the bec. ith a smirk on his face.
“Katrina is so much stronger than Iris, why don’t you like her?”
Heriberto leaned against the head of the bed, his face becoming more

angular and icier, sneering, “If you like it so much, why don’t you marry it.”
“I actually wanted to get married!” said Everett, raising his eyebrows and shrugging, “But unfortunately, no one was interested.”
He did speak the truth.
He already had a six–year–old son, a proud and arrogant young lady like Katrina, how could she possibly become a stepmother to his son.
Heriberto gave him a cold snort and said, “So, how can I help you out?”
“Hey, you better not!”
Everett quickly shook his head and waved his hand, “A lady like Katrina, even if I marry her, I can’t afford it. Why bother to invite trouble, don’t you think?”
“So why did you come to me to talk nonsense?” Heriberto couldn’t be bothered with him, took the documents and continued reading.
Everett propped his legs up and chin in hand, stared at him for a while, then suddenly asked, “Hey, are you really planning to wait for Iris to come back?”
Heriberto kept reading the documents, ignoring him.
I Everett frowned and said, “That day I accidentally overheard Danica talking to Iris on the phone, and it sounded like Iris never come back to you again.”
“You heard Iris talking to Danica on the phone, when did that happen?” Immediately, Heriberto’s eyes lit up and he set down the files to ask further.

Everett raised his eyebrows, smiled, and said, “You’re so cheap. Iris doesn’t want you anymore, and now you’re starting to cherish her.”
Heriberto’s face fell for a moment, “What did Iris tell Danica?”
Everett lazily rubbed his chin, with a smirk that looked like he was asking for a punch, “It’s nothing, just don’t want to see you, don’t want to have anything to do with you anymore. Besides, she’s in Ardiham now, carefree and unattached. Why come back? It’s so much better out there, isn’t it uncomfortable being tied down? Come back to continue being your old lady, serving you!”
Listening to his words, Heriberto’s eyes, which had just lit up a bit, quickly dimmed again.
Like ink staining, all dark and obscure.
“Heriberto, listen to me, man. Once you’ve done something, don’t regret it, ‘cause regret won’t help. Plus, I don’t even think you really love Iris. Isn’t she just not your type?”
Looking at Heriberto now lying in bed looking thin and weak, as brothers for many years, Everett is kind of feeling sorry for him.
“Instead of torturing yourself endlessly, why not look forward? After all, good or bad, we all have to go through the days. Enjoy each day as it comes.”
Everett made a lot of sense.
