Every Breath You Take novel Chapter 69

The stage was covered with obstacles. If he fell down, his first reaction must be to protect himself. If Evan only cared about himself, then Monica, who was on his back, would definitely fall out of inertia. If so, the consequences would be serious.

Just as Quarmy stood up, something unexpected happened. Evan didn't only care about himself as everyone had expected. His first reaction was to protect Monica, who was on his back.

Because of it, Monica was not thrown out by inertia, but continued to be kept on his back by his hands. However, Evan was not so lucky as her. He fell forward and fell heavily on the barrier.

All the staff rushed up, and Evan's forehead was scraped against the barrier. Monica was not injured but was a little frightened.

Seeing that Monica wasn't injured, Quarmy sat down again and looked at Noah coldly. Noah quickly lowered his voice and clarified, "I didn't do it! I still haven't thought of a solution!"

The staff went up to rescue them. Someone asked Evan how he was doing and if he needed a doctor. He replied, "It's no big deal. It's just a minor injury. I'm not that delicate!"

Monica looked at the wound on his forehead and took out a handkerchief. Seeing this, Quarmy's face darkened. Noah snorted and said, "Interesting! He was already at the finish line, yet he suddenly made such a move. There's no oil on the stage. Why did he fall?"

"I am a man without money, power or appearance. I am very excited to stand here and make a declaration of love to you today." Evan's voice was a little choked. "I don't want to say words that are too flashy, because if you choose me, our lives later on will have nothing to do with flashy but mundane. So my love declaration is to tell you my story.

"Strictly speaking, my life has been miserable so far. My father cheated on my mother and abandoned her when I was in high school. My mother could not accept this blow and chose to commit suicide, so I've been an orphan since I was a teenager, and went through college with the support of my relatives. After graduating from college, I fell in love with a girl in the same class. She is a city- born pampered girl. We loved each other very much and naturally walked into the hall of marriage. At first, the marriage was very happy, and so was I. Later, because the unit where I worked was not efficient, my in-laws expressed their disgust at my lack of income. Coupled with some of my own reasons, my wife, with whom I was in love for three years, eventually left me. Since I married penniless, I didn't take anything with me when I got divorced."

Evan's story and everything Monica had been through were surprisingly similar. Monica was stunned for a moment, and so was Quarmy.
