Chapter 441
“You’ve got a death wish?”
Lucas‘ voice dropped, low and dangerous.
If there was one thing he despised, it was being threatened.
He didn’t know how Wendy had found out or where she’d heard from, but the moment she spoke those words, a chill went through him.
He’d hidden that secret for so long.
And now, just like that, she’d dragged it into the open.
How unacceptable.
Wendy, clearly unnerved by his reaction, still tried to hold her ground.
“Lukey, I know you hate being threatened. I didn’t want to do this either. I just didn’t see another way. Please forgive me.”
“Besides,” she added with a trembling smile. “If I didn’t do this, would you ever even look at me the way you look at her?”
Lucas took a deep breath, jaw tight with restraint.
He didn’t want to hear another word of her pathetic excuses.
With a sharp motion, he flung her arm off. “Say it. What do you want?”
Wendy’s eyes lit up, satisfaction flickering beneath her lashes.
She’d gambled and won a reaction.
Of course, this was the only way.
Without a push, Lucas‘ eyes would forever be fixed on just Aurora.
He didn’t see anyone else, not even when they stood right in front of him.
How could she accept that? How could she watch him fall for another woman without a fight?
She couldn’t, so she clung even tighter.
“Please, Lukey… just let me hug you, just once. She’s not even around right now…”
She had already scoped things out before coming in.
Aurora was still in the shower.
There was no way she’d come out and see anything happening in the kitchen.
But as Wendy’s words sank in, a vein pulsed at Lucas‘ temple, and his patience snapped.
“I’m warning you,” he said coldly, voice barely restrained. “Let go of me. This is your last chance.”
And there was no mistaking it now.
His fury was real. He was boiling, just a step away from explosion.
Wendy’s body trembled, and with shaky hands, she finally let go of Lucas.
“Lukey, don’t be mad. I just wanted to talk to you, that’s all. I didn’t mean anything else.”
“Alright, I got it.”
Lucas‘ lips were tightly pressed together, and his expression darkened even more as he looked at her.
“Then tell me, what do you want?”
Lucas hated this feeling of being cornered, like someone was holding his weakness in their hands.
It made him deeply uncomfortable,
But really, if the roles were reversed, no one would like being treated that way, especially not Lucas.
He couldn’t stand being threatened or being forced into doing things he didn’t want to do.
Right now, he might as well have had bad mood written across his forehead.
“Alright, speak”
Lucas reached out and shut the kitchen door.

Chapter 441
At that moment, the cramped kitchen left no room for escape, just the two of them squeezed inside.
The look on his face was pure impatience.
He had no interest in wasting more words on Wendy.
And where the hell was Kenneth anyway?
Dumping his sister in Ravenshore like this and just washing his hands of it?
That wasn’t exactly responsible.
Looking at Wendy’s face now, Lucas couldn’t help but think of his so–called good friend, Kenneth.
It’d be best if he never came back to the country because if he did, Lucas had no intention of letting him off the hook.
This time, he’d make Kenneth pay for everything.
So much time had passed already.
What was going through that guy’s head? Was he seriously planning to just ignore his own sister?
