Chapter 435
“You’d better not come to me for anything ever again. Don’t worry, I won’t give a damn whether you live or die.”
Kenneth stared at the shattered pieces of his phone on the floor, his chest heaving with frustration.
He couldn’t understand it.
Wendy hadn’t been like this before.
Why did it feel like she’d grown bolder ever since returning to Ravenshore?
He composed himself before letting his assistant in to deliver a new phone..
“Clean up that mess too,” he ordered.
The assistant glanced at the scattered fragments, not daring to say a word.
He knew all too well what kind of temper his boss had.
Outsiders thought Kenneth was easygoing- a gentleman with a smile.
In truth, he was far from it.
His temper was notoriously bad.
He often slammed tables, kicked doors and smashing phones.
That was practically routine.
This was the fourth phone the assistant had cleaned up this month. And it was only the fifth day.
Meanwhile in Ravenshore, Wendy finally exhaled in relief when her phone stopped ringing.
As expected, the world became much quieter once she blocked him.
She should’ve done it ages ago.
Her brother was relentless with his questions- once he started, there was no end.
Honestly, it was exhausting.
Wendy peered through the doorway, her gaze fixed intently on the two people inside.
“Eat up. Eat as much as you want. After all, it’s your last meal.”
She was far too considerate–always thinking three steps ahead, even when she didn’t have to.
Aurora had been fine at first, but halfway through the meal, an odd sensation crept over her.
It felt like someone was watching them, an uncomfortable itch beneath her skin.
She looked at Lucas, eyes full of uncertainty. “Lukey, do you feel like someone’s watching us…?”
Her voice carried a trace of hesitation.
After all, there were only three people in the room.
The two of them were eating here.
So, the third person had to be Wendy, didn’t it?
Could it be… she really tampered with the food?
The thought sent a chill down Aurora’s spine.
Had she been too confident in Wendy? Was that why she’d let her guard down completely over the meal?
Now, panic started creeping in, and Aurora couldn’t even recall what she had been thinking when she agreed to eat it.
Maybe it was because Wendy had been unusually well–behaved lately.
After all, she hadn’t made any moves.
She hadn’t even shown up in front of her
Even the meal had come with nothing but a handwritten note.
That was probably why Aurora had let herself believe it was safe.
But that feeling of being watched really did seem real.

Chapter 436
Hearing her mention it, Lucas set down his fork
He focused for a moment, then glanced toward Wendy’s side of the room.
Wendy jolted in fright. The moment Aurora spoke, she’d already shut the door.
Her heart pounded wildly.
Even though she was still in the room—and technically in control—the moment Aurora uttered that sentence, her nerves completely unraveled.
Lucas hadn’t noticed Wendy’s reaction, but after a moment of quiet observation, he didn’t sense anything out of the ordinary.
“I don’t think so. You’re probably just imagining things.”
He picked up another piece of stew and brought it to his mouth. “We’ve been eating for a while now. If something were wrong, we would’ve felt it by now.”
Aurora had just been about to stop him when she heard that.
