Chapter 413
Grace couldn’t bear for things to stay this tense between her daughters. If this continued, what would happen to the company in the future?
Just thinking about it made her feel uneasy.
No matter what, she couldn’t let things deteriorate like this between her girls.
“I just think… maybe your sister’s been going through something lately. That’s probably why she’s been saying such harsh things.”
Grace paused, trying to choose her words carefully.
“Don’t be too angry with her. You know how she is–she’s always been like that. Haven’t you spent enough time with her to understand her temperament by now?”
“Mom!”
Aurora couldn’t hold back any longer, cutting her off before she could continue.
Grace still wanted to speak, but Aurora didn’t want to hear it anymore.
“I know what you’re trying to say,” she sighed.
“And that’s exactly the problem. It’s because I’ve known her for so long that I know all too well what kind of person she is.”
“Please don’t try to persuade me anymore. There’s no point.”
Right now, she didn’t want to worry about anything else.
She just wanted to live her life in peace.
Grace’s lips trembled slightly.
She still wanted to hold her ground. “Aurora, she’s your sister. Why can’t you give her another chance? Blood is thicker than water. Please, think about that.”
“I know, Mom. I hear you.”
Aurora handed her the sliced apple.
Grace took it instinctively, knowing that if she didn’t, Aurora would stop talking altogether.
“It’s just that… everything’s already been said between us.
“If she thinks you’re playing favorites, and that makes her start resenting me too, then that’s bound to happen. I’ve come to accept it.”
Grace felt a jolt in her chest.
All at once, she realized Aurora was right.
Maybe the problem hadn’t been Tessa or Aurora at all.
Maybe it had been her.
Seeing that distant, pained look in Grace’s eyes, Aurora felt her own heart ache a little too.
She thought to herself–her mother had only just woken up and was already burdened with so much. The thought alone made Aurora feel a pang of guilt. “Mom, don’t overthink it. Some things just need to unfold naturally.
“If she comes around on her own, everything else will follow. We won’t even need to say a word.”
Grace mulled it over and realized Aurora had a point.
The apple Aurora had brought wasn’t very big–just enough to give Grace a bit of sugar.
A few bites, and it was gone
Once Grace had finished, Aurora handed her a damp towel so she could clean her hands.
Then she gently adjusted the bed to a comfortable recline, helping her mother lie back before tucking the blanket over her.
“Mom, I was immature before. I owe you an apology”
Het delicate face was filled with sincerity.
*From now on, I promise I’ll listen to you and do everything I can to help grow Walton Corporation stronger than ever.”
Grace looked at her, eyes brimming with tears, warmth blooming in her chest. “Aurora, twaring you say that means everything to me ” “It means everything to me too, Mom” Aurora saulled softly.
Being your daughter in this lifetime is something I’ll always be proud of.”
