Chapter 194
“You… how could you?”
Aurora let out a soft laugh. “Alright, work is still more important. Don’t overthink it.”
Lucy thought about it for a moment and realized it made sense.
While they were speaking, someone knocked on the office door.
Both Aurora and Lucy turned toward the sound.
The person at the door looked at Aurora and said, “Miss Aurora, the Chairwoman wants to see you.”
Aurora’s gaze darkened slightly. “Alright, I understand. I’ll head over now.”
Lucy guessed, “Is it about what happened this morning?”
Aurora gave a quiet “Mm.”
“It could be, but I’m not sure yet. Better to go and find out.”
“Then you go ahead, Aurora. I’ll get back to work too.
After they went their separate ways, Aurora headed straight to the chairwoman’s office.
She knocked on the door, and it took a while before a voice responded from inside.
When Aurora walked in, Grace was hunched over her desk, writing something, fully focused on her work
It was as if she hadn’t even seen Aurora come in, continuing with her task as though no one else was in the room.
Aurora waited for a while before finally speaking up.
“Madam Grace, is there something you needed from me?”
Grace still didn’t respond and kept working, acting as if Aurora wasn’t there at all.
Aurora understood then–Grace was deliberately giving her the cold shoulder.
So, she decided to sit patiently on the couch and started going through her own tasks.
Eventually, Grace sighed.
Her daughter’s temperament was just like hers.
She finally broke the silence. “Do you know why I asked you to come here today?”
“Madam Grace, you didn’t tell me, so I wouldn’t dare make assumptions,” Aurora answered respectfully.

Grace stood up and walked to the floor–to–ceiling window, gazing out at the bustling traffic below.
“The reason Walton Corporation has stayed at the top for so many years in this circle is because of the reputation we’ve maintained.”
The moment she said that, Aurora knew exactly where this was going
#put
what happened between you and your ex this morning–it was an absolute disgrace.”
The last part came with a noticeably harsher tone.
Aurora lowered her gaze, unsure of how to respond.
Don’t worry. I’ll handle it.”
After thinking it over, that was the only response she could give,
Grace turned to look at her daughter.
Her biggest issue was always that stubborn pride. “It must be handled properly. The company’s image isn’t something you or I

can afford to tarnish.
“Remember, even though your last name is Walton and the company carries that name, it doesn’t belong to just the two of us.”
A chill crept through Aurora’s chest. “Understood.”
Even though she was the one humiliated, her mother hadn’t shown a shred of concern.
All she cared about was the company’s reputation.
Aurora clenched her fingers, forcing herself to stay calm.
She couldn’t afford to let her emotions get the better of her.
After all, her mother wasn’t wrong–the company wasn’t theirs alone to decide for.
“That’s all I have to say. You’ll need to continue following up with Leonard’s side.”
With that, Grace returned to her seat and went back to work.
Aurora stood there in a daze for a long moment before finally walking out and closing the office door behind her.
As the door shut, Grace lifted her head, her eyes clouded with a flicker of something unreadable.
