The next morning.
Aurora was getting ready to head to work when she bumped into Wendy, who was still at the table eating breakfast.
Aurora raised a brow but said nothing as she passed,
But Wendy couldn’t stand being ignored.
She deliberately moved closer, inserting herself into Aurora’s path.

Chapter 183
“Aurora, Lukey made breakfast for you. Want to come have a bite? I already tried it for you the food’s really great today,”
Wendy said with a bright smile.
Tried it?
So basically, the entire table was what Wendy had already dug into?
Aurora’s gaze swept over the table, then down at Wendy, who was still happily stuffing her face.
Her stomach turned.
The thought alone made her feel sick.
Wendy, oblivious as ever, kept talking cheerfully to herself.
“It’s been so long since I’ve had Lukey’s cooking. Now that I’m in Ravenshore, I’m going to eat my fill.”
“Alright, enough. You sound like someone who’s been starving for weeks,” Lucas cut in as he walked out, catching just enough of
her comment to feel annoyed.
He knew what kind of family Wendy came from–she didn’t exactly grow up lacking anything.
But she’d been spoiled rotten by her brother, and that was why she’d become so entitled and unreasonable.
Lucas was well aware about that.
Aurora looked at the chaotic mess that was the breakfast table and felt her appetite vanish.
There was no way she could sit there and eat peacefully with them.
She picked up her bag without hesitation and turned toward the door.
“It’s fine. I’ll grab something on the way. I’m running late anyway.”
Lucas stepped in to block her path, reluctant to let her leave. “But I spent all that time cooking. Can’t you at least try a Besides, food out there isn’t as safe as what I make at home.”
little?
Aurora calmly pried his hand away. “No need. Even if it’s not as safe, at least I can eat in peace without all this noise and mess.”
Her words were pointed, and both of them understood exactly what she meant.
Even Wendy, as slow as she could be, couldn’t miss it this time.
The one responsible for all the chaos was clearly her.
But since Aurora didn’t name names, calling herself out would’ve only made her look foolish, like she was jumping to claim guilt
that hadn’t been assigned.

So, she could only sit there in silence, fuming behind her forced smile.
In the end, Wendy had no choice but to swallow the bitter taste of her own consequences.
Lucas, seeing that he couldn’t stop Aurora from leaving, had to let her go, though his voice still carried quiet concern as he
reminded her to eat something.
Aurora gave a half–hearted nod and walked out the door without looking back.
She had no intention of wasting another second in that house.
The sharp slam of the door echoed behind her, and only then did Wendy speak, her tone laced with irritation.
“Lukey, what’s wrong with her? You made that breakfast with so much effort, and she didn’t even touch a bite.
“I think she’s just doing it on purpose. You got up early just to make that meal.”
“Eat your breakfast,” Lucas said coldly, his gaze suddenly sharp. “This is between me and her. You don’t get to weigh in.
“Don’t forget, you’re just a guest in this house.”
Wendy hadn’t seen this side of Lucas in a long time. His stern tone made her flinch.
She’d grown used to his mild manner, his easy smile.
This was the first time in ages she’d seen him truly angry.
Lucas noticed the way her hands trembled, and though he didn’t push further–out of consideration for their long friendship-
his frustration was clear.
Still, he found himself staring at the table, appetite gone.
In the end, he picked up his keys and left for the office.
Once both of them were gone, Wendy sat alone, staring at the untouched dishes on the table.
She didn’t move. Just sat there in silence, blank and dazed.
