Don't Try to Escape, My Wife! novel Chapter 1784

Yasmeen immediately hopped off from his lap. She said shyly, “I’ll go check what Mrs. Green is busy with.”

Then she fled out.

Looking at her receding figure, Lucas smiled faintly.

The older Yasmeen became, the shyer she was.

He still remembered how domineering she was when they first met. She kept following him without giving up as if she was pretty bold. However, sitting on his lap had scared her away.

His phone was still ringing. Lucas checked the caller ID and found it was Edison.

He was a bit taken aback.

According to the schedule, Edison and Michele were supposed to be on a flight. Lucas wondered why Edison could have time to call him.

In confusion, he swiped to answer quickly.

“What’s up?”

“Boss, something happened to Michele. Please come to Capital City as soon as possible.”

Edison’s voice was trembling.

They had worked with each other for several years, but this was the first time that Lucas heard his voice in that way. Lucas frowned, feeling a bit worried.

“I’ll book the flight now. Give me your location.”

After hanging up the phone, he received Edition’s location instantly.

Yasmeen was still shy while Lucas walked into the room.

Looking at her, he said in a low voice, “Yasmeen, something happened to Michele. I must go back to Capital City now. Please go with me.”

Initially, Lucas had planned to fly over and transfer his residential record alone. However, something had happened to Michele, so he would definitely see Michele based on their friendship since childhood.

However, Michele had special feelings for him, so he couldn’t go to see her alone.

Yasmeen was taken aback. Before her face returned to normal, she heard such news, so she felt a bit depressed. However, she also knew Lucas treated Michele as treating a younger sister. She thought for a moment and said, “Okay. I’ll go pack up.”

“Thank you.”

Lucas rubbed her head apologetically. Yasmeen felt being doted by him.

The depression in her heart also vanished instantly.

“It’s nothing. You should go pack up as well. I’ll be ready soon,” she said.

“Okay.”

When Lucas walked out of Yasmeen’s room, he happened to meet Zoe. Looking at him, she asked, “Lucas, are you going out?”

“Ehn. I’ll fly to Capital City now. Please help me tell Dad and Mom later.”

Right then, no one knew what Samuel and Nicole were doing in their room, and he didn’t want to disturb them. Or, Samuel might scold him.

Zoe nodded, casting a glance in Yasmeen’s direction, and asked, “Is Yasmeen going with you?”

“Ehn.”

Zoe was relieved.

“Lucas, you can’t betray Yasmeen. Or I’ll not let go of you.”

She made a face at him and left while holding her cell phone.

Lucas shook his head. He booked the air tickets quickly and asked Brenda to deal with the company businesses when he was away. Then he put a few closes in a suitcase and came out of his room.

He had thought it might take a long time for Yasmeen to get ready, but much to his surprise, Yasmeen got everything settled almost the same as him.

“What’s wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?”

“I didn’t expect you would get ready so fast,” Lucas said.

Yasmeen whispered, “Sometime happened to Michele, so you must be quite worried. You must have booked the tickets for the latest flight. I don’t have many things to pack. Hurry. Let’s go.”

“She’s my fiancee. What’s wrong I brought her here? Besides, Yasmeen and Michele got along very well. She should come to see Michele as well.”

Since Lucas said so, Edison didn’t remark anything else.

However, Edison looked annoyed all the time.

“What happened to Michele?”

Lucas had known Michele’s health condition, wondering why suddenly something had happened to her.

Edison took a glance at Yasmeen and answered, “Michele committed suicide. She cut her wrist deeply. She has just been rescued. Uncle Morty and his wife were with her for a day and a night. They have just gone back home for a rest.”

Yasmeen was startled.

Michele committed suicide.

With her character, how could she do it?

Yasmeen wondered if she had done it for Lucas.

She squinted.

As far as she knew about Michele, Michele shouldn’t be so bothered by something.

However, Yasmeen didn’t think it would be appropriate for her to say anything at this moment. She decided to keep silent and just listen to them.

However, upon hearing it, Lucas grabbed Yasmeen’s hand and turned away.

Edison was confused by his movements. Seeing that Lucas was leaving for real, he rushed up to stop him and asked, “What are you doing, Boss? Michele committed suicide for you. Don’t you want to check on her?”

“Why should I check on someone irresponsible for her own life? Over the years, my education of her has been in vain. I’ve resigned from the military. She can do whatever she wants now. I’m no longer responsible for her.”

After finishing his words, Lucas lifted his foot and left without any hesitation.

Edition panicked instantly. He grabbed Yasmeen’s arm and begged, “Yasmeen, please help me convince Boss. If Michele didn’t see him, she would continue committing suicide.”
