Don't Try to Escape, My Wife! novel Chapter 1781

“Aren’t you going to try it on?” asked Zoe in jest while looking at Lucas.

The latter cast her a glance and said indifferently, “Are you making trouble again?”

“I just want to know if you really have eight abs, as Yasmeen said.”

Lucas slightly frowned. “Can you just be a gentlewoman? Besides, leave Yasmeen alone. Don’t influence her.”

“Gee! Has she influenced me, or have I influenced her? You should know I’m single right now.”

Zoe was a bit annoyed.

Lucas answered flatly, “You are single, but it doesn’t mean you can’t get pleasure by fancying men.”

“Lucas!”

Zoe felt his words had hurt her.

With a smile, Lucas asked, “Are you here to tell me about this?”

“Of course not.”

Zoe directly sat down opposite Lucas, found a mug, and gave it to him.

“You made the tea?” asked Zoe.

“Ehn.”

Lucas nodded in confirmation.

Recently he fell in love with the taste of the tea, so he made some. However, seeing Zoe’s frown, he took another tea set and made some tea.

Looking at Lucas’s elegant movements, Zoe couldn’t tell that he was a soldier at all.

Even after serving in the military for several years, he still looked like a nobleman -- steady, reserved, and aloof.

“Lucas, I remembered you didn’t care about Yasmeen at all before. Why did you suddenly accept her?”

Upon hearing it, Lucas paused while making the tea. He glanced at her and said, “Jus straight to the point.”

“You are not lovely at all,” Zoe complained.

Lucas answered flatly, “Girls can be lovely. Do you think it’s an appropriate word for me?”

“All right. I’ll stop beating around the busy. Why did you suddenly accept Yasmeen?”

“I was moved by her. Her persistence worked,” answered Lucas.

However, Zoe curled her lips. “Her persistence on you? Your heart is made of diamond. Nothing could move it at all. Come one. Tell me. Did you happen to know something?”

“What do you think I’m supposed to know?”

Lucas put down the teapot and looked at Zoe in amusement.

Zoe cursed him for being so cunning, but she went straight to the point.

“Did you happen to know Yasmeen was your renal donor?”

Her question came so sudden, but Lucas wasn’t surprised at all.

Zoe looked like a doll, but all members of the Green family knew she always represented the whole family.

Lucas only kept silent, but Zoe knew she had guessed the correct answer.

“Did you accept Yasmeen because of this?”

“When did you get to know Yasmeen was your donor?”

“When she appeared at the kidnapping scene.”

Upon hearing it, Zoe was surprised.

“How come?” she asked.

“Before the kidnap happened, we had been paid attention to that kidnapper. However, before we found all his information, he kidnapped Penny. In such an emergency, I could only choose to rescue the hostage first. However, when I saw Yasmeen at the scene, I recalled Edison’s words. Half a year earlier, when I was in the hospital because of a serious injury and almost dead, through a different channel, Yasmeen entered into the military hospital where I was and stayed for more than two hours. After she came out, she looked pretty pale.”

While recalling, Lucas continued, “A lot of things could be done in those more than two hours. However, my operation was also taken for two hours. Although she might stay there for such a long time because she was worried about me, my injury at that time was highly classified. Even my family wasn’t informed. You got to know it because of the renal source. Why did Yasmeen appear at the scene then?”

Zoe was stunned.

She had to admit that Lucas had found some details and figured out something from them.

“So, did you look into this matter?”

“I couldn’t do it right away, and neither did I have the time, but I just kept the question in my mind. After I left the hospital, I looked into Yasmeen’s activity tracks during that period. Coincidentally, more than one week after my operation, Yasmeen didn’t visit me at all. How could a girl who was chasing me in the past twenty years and used other channels to visit me when I was dying despite anything not visit me after I was out of danger? It meant she was stopped by something.”

Lucas’s eyes darkened.

“During that period, she should be recovering in another hospital. She’s the princess of a foreign country, so she could go to her private hospital. We couldn’t find it out naturally. However, she forgot one thing -- no matter whether it was a private hospital or secure, they needed to purchase medicines from the medical companies. Hence, I checked the medicine purchase records in the hospital that she stayed.”

Upon hearing it, Zoe had roughly understood.

The private hospital was open because of ensuring Yasmeen’s health. It only served her. However, they purchased some post-surgery medicines for the kidney. Lucas wasn’t a fool. Hence, he got to know everything.

Yasmeen kept the secret very well, but she never expected that Lucas had already known everything.

She never wanted Lucas to accept her because of her kindness to him, but it still happened.
