A trace of agony flashed by in Lucas’ eyes.

Lucas lowered his head while he felt his cheeks stinging. He knew that his cheeks were beginning to swell, but what else could he do?

Would killing him bring back what was lost?

“I will take care of her!”

“You’re going to take care of her? Who are you to take care of my daughter? Do you think you’re that great just because you’re loaded with money? Do you think the lives of the poor could be measured using money? Why don’t you just drop dead? Why didn’t the kidnappers just kill you at that time?”

The woman was so angry that she was starting to throw her fists and legs at him.

It was way easier for Lucas to dodge her, but he didn’t do that.

He was indeed indebted to this girl and this family!

The woman continued to bash Lucas like crazy, which was coincidentally saw by Yasmeen who had just arrived.

Yasmeen immediately felt a pain in her heart when she saw the man she loved getting beaten by a mad woman.

That woman was even scratching Lucas’ face, which left a few bloody marks. Yasmeen was upset and furious upon seeing that.

“What are you doing?”

Yasmeen initially wanted to push this woman away, but when she thought about the person staying in this house, she retracted her hands at the last moment and instead throw herself in front of Lucas. She exposed her back to that woman.

“You only know that she has accidentally hurt your daughter, but you never know about his heroics in saving countless lives in the past. Do you think that he should be condemned just because of a single mistake? He’s a man, not a god!”

Yasmeen’s eyes were stinging with tears.

The man he was hugging and protecting had such eye-catching and staggering bloody scratch marks on his cheeks, and they were like knives which were poking at her.

Lucas never deserved this in the first place.

He could complete that mission perfectly!

It was all because of her!

Yasmeen felt very sorry in her heart.

“Cough cough!”

The girl on the bed suddenly began coughing.

The woman hastily ran towards her.

“Penny, how are you feeling? Do you feel any discomfort?”

The girl called Penny opened her eyes and immediately saw Lucas’ handsome face, and although there were scratch marks because of her mother, it was enough for her heart to start racing.

This man was so handsome!

She looked at Lucas’ eyes and saw that he had given his gentleness to Yasmeen, and it made her feel jealous all of a sudden.

Her mother told her that her womb was damaged, and she could no longer bear any child. Her boyfriend had parted ways with her because of this, and that man didn’t even tell her to her face when she woke up. He simply came by and dropped in a word to her mother.

She was discarded just like that.

Initially, Penny felt very resentful in her heart, but upon seeing Lucas, she suddenly felt all her hatred melt away.

This scene somehow riled up Penny, and her eyes froze as she said in a hoarse voice, “You told my mum that you are going to take care of me? How are you going to do that? I have perfectly fine limbs, and I look like a perfectly fine person, it’s just that no one would marry me anymore because I can’t give birth to a child. What does your so-called ‘taking care’ means? Are you going to marry me?”

When she said that, both Lucas and Yasmeen were stunned speechless for a while.
