Don't Try to Escape, My Wife! novel Chapter 1635

“The person who wanted you dead isn’t Cara!” Nicole said.

“What do you mean?” Laurence looked at Nicole. Nicole was very solemn as if she wanted to say something but stopped because of the presence of the doctor.

Laurence stopped pressing and asked instead, “What do you feel like eating? I’ll look for something in the kitchen."

Nicole shook her head and said, "Nothing. I'm tired.”

When the doctor heard this, he quickly said, “I gave you some local anesthetic. If your body isn’t in good physical shape, you will feel very tired or drowsy.”

“Then I’ll sleep for a while.” Nicole laid down on the bed.

Laurence decided not to leave but stay to watch over her. Nicole was soon asleep. Once the doctor completed his treatment, he signaled to Laurence and left the room.

Nicole immediately opened her eyes when the doctor left and startled Laurence.

“You…” Laurence exclaimed.

“Hush…” Nicole quickly signaled Laurence to keep quiet and sent Tony a message to send a car to follow the doctor.

Laurence was stunned and spoke only when the doctor had left, “You’re suspecting…”

“That doctor is suspicious,” Nicole said. Although the bullet had been removed, she suddenly felt drowsy. That meant that the doctor gave her something so that she would not interfere with Laurence’s matters.

Nicole was very troubled when she thought of the person who tried to kill her.

Laurence did not know what Nicole was thinking but noticed her frown and asked, “Tony had sent someone to follow the doctor?”

“Yes. We should find out who sent the doctor if all goes well.” Nicole said calmly and then looked at Laurence, “Did you see who the sniper was?”

“No.” Laurence was being pressed down by Nicole and could not see the sniper. He thought that it was Cara.

“The sniper wasn’t Cara?” Laurence asked.

“No, it was Alison!” Nicole said and Laurence was stunned.

“Who?” Laurence asked.

“Alison, aren’t you surprised? I’m also shocked.” Nicole scoffed.

Alison was sent by Mr. Shaw to work for her. Alison was sent by Samuel to F country to investigate Laurence’s incident and disappeared thereafter. Everyone thought that she had been killed but who would expect that she betrayed them and became one of the enemies?

This was unbelievable and difficult to accept but Nicole saw her. If she did not push Laurence to safety, with Alison’s marksmanship, that shot would have easily gone through Laurence’s heart.

Did Alison want to Laurence dead? No! It would be more accurate to say that someone wanted Laurence dead and Alison was the sniper.

Nicole felt that the entire situation had become a mess and revolved around Cara.

Tony stepped in during the conversation and said, “Let me see your wound.”

“Don’t you deal only with poisons?” Nicole asked to Tony’s displeasure.

“Come on, at least I learned from Davon. All doctors have a common basic medical knowledge. It’s just that I don’t normally practice medicine. However, you’re special and I am looking forward to you designing a race car for me.”

Nicole was amused and exposed her shoulder.

She did not intend to sleep but as she soon fell asleep after lying down and dreamt about Jacob.

In the dream, Jacob was covered in blood and looked at her. The sight was heartbreaking.

“Don’t go! Jacob!” Olivia was scared and woke up from the fright. She realized that night had fallen, and the room was very dark. She sat on the bed trying in vain to calm down. She turned on the bedside lamp and saw that there was a box on the table.

The box appeared to be a shoebox but it did not appear to be hers. Who could have brought this in for her? She was relieved only when she realized that she was surrounded by her own team.

She got out of bed and approached the box.

She hesitated and then did not dare to open it. She then called for the bodyguard. Out of safety concerns, Olivia was asked to exit the room.

The bodyguard became nervous as he looked at the box. When he tried to open the box, he heard a ticking sound coming from within.

Crap!

The bodyguard immediately yelled, “Bomb! Get down!” He then threw the box out of the window and dived for the ground.

Olivia was being hurried away and was shocked to hear about the presence of a bomb.

However, there was no explosion after the box was thrown out. What’s going on?

Several bodyguards ran over and realized that there was no bomb. It was an antique watch and continued to tick on. However, there was a note stuck to the watch.

“Leave! Otherwise, next time this would be a bomb!”

This was both a warning and a threat!
