Chapter 571
“What?” Teresa asked back.
Jonathan said, “I mean, you left the dishes in the sink. Why didn’t you even bother to wash them?”
Teresa replied, “I forgot.”
Jonathan said, “Come wash them now. I saved them just for you.”
Teresa fell silent for a few seconds before replying flatly, “Got it.”
Hearing Jonathan suddenly let out a chuckle, Teresa asked, “What’s so funny?”
Jonathan said, “I was just kidding. Do you think I need you to come over just to wash those few dishes?”
Teresa rolled her eyes. She thought, ‘It turns out he was just making small talk.’
Jonathan said, “Did you enjoy the meal I cooked? You cleaned your plate. That’s good. By the way, do the clothes I bought for you fit comfortably? Looks like you’ve put on a bit of weight.”
Teresa’s heart skipped a beat. She then became a little angry. She said, “You’re the fat one. Your whole family is fat.”
Jonathan frowned. “What? Are you mad? Does a little extra weight mess with your looks or that beautiful skin of yours? It all went to your breasts, not even an ounce to your arms. Isn’t that a good thing?”
Teresa took a deep breath and snapped, “I’m done listening to you. Don’t ever call me again. We have nothing to talk about.”
Jonathan relented and said, “Alright. You’re not fat. Just forget what I said. It just slipped out.”
Even after Jonathan’s concession, Teresa’s tone was still curt. “I’m hanging up.”
“Hold on a sec,” Jonathan said. He leaned against the windowsill, looking genuinely perplexed. “Every time we talk, you hang up after a few words. Why is it always so hard to have a comfortable conversation with you?”
Teresa huffed, “We’ve got a generation gap. Let’s just drop it. I don’t want to hear an old man ramble on.”
Jonathan said, “I’m only three years older than you.”
Teresa shot back, “Well, I’m still in my twenties, but you’re already in your thirties.”
Jonathan laughed out of anger. “When I say something you don’t like, you just have to snap back. Seriously, which one of us is the real Scorpio here?”
“You don’t have to bring up zodiac signs just to prove how young you are,” Teresa retorted.
Jonathan replied, “Why can’t I talk to you about them? I’m only thirty, not eighty.”
Teresa said, “You will reach the grand old age of 31 in just two months. Since your birthday comes before mine, if we round it up, you’re practically four years older than me.”
With that, Teresa hung up.
Though the baby was in a posterior position and her abdomen had plenty of space, Teresa hadn’t shown much at first. But as her belly gradually became noticeable, she knew many would surely wonder if she was pregnant or just putting on weight.
She didn’t care what others said about her. For instance, when Edward commented that she had put on a few pounds, she just brushed it off with a vague reply, not taking it to heart or getting upset.

However, Jonathan’s words hit differently. She had to snap back, or it would eat at her.
Her phone buzzed with a notification. Teresa read the message Jonathan had sent.
